Uhm...

If you are against this then you should also be;

-pro-unions
-against employers being able of firing someone for anything they want

But I'm pretty sure that when those subjects are mentioned that the majority of the people against this will suddenly be against worker rights.

Ohwell I'm just glad that people can't get fired as easily here in the Netherlands.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22089462

Unions tell you how much you should get paid, when you can work, and when you have to stop work and go out on strike. Unions would probably also tell you you have to get a flu shot in order to work.

I would NOT do it... my grandson had Guillan-Barre took him 1 year to recover after 2 weeks in hospital to find out WHAT was wrong.

I would NOT take any flu shots... do as you personal wish that is my choice. Make yours.

Morons. They should sue the dumb bastards. Ever hear of Gullian Barre?

I don't let a lot of things upset me, but this is definitely one of the ones that does... I really don't understand how this can be legally enforced (Well, I can, "at will employment" laws, etc.... but still). Are those who refused at least eligible for unemployment? Guessing not.
I wonder if exemptions were/are accepted. If not, I would love to see this company get sued into bankruptcy. Insidiously sick business.. yak
 Quoting: Ms.Magoo

Each and every one of these employees that gets fired can be sued in small claims court for wrongful termination on the grounds of being forced to under go unproven medical treatment without consent.. Sue for $5,000.. That's the maximum.. The hospital will be forced to show up in court or lose the case.. It costs big bucks to send an attorney into small claims court..They won't want to do that.. Then you can start collection proceedings.. believe me.. this is doable.. They may also be required to reinstate your employment.. Make a stand in court.. forget getting an attorney..they are all connected and quite useless....
 Quoting: Butt Pincher

This sounds about right.

Not to besmirch all attorneys -- there are a few good ones out there but they live very worried lives -- but the comment about attorneys is probably right. I found the same when I was looking to get my child treated right in school, the only attorney in town who handled such things against schools talked a big game but didn't actually want to sue the schools. We made a better stink all by ourselves, and got a bad, tenured principal fired. (Well, suddenly retired supposedly.) :)

They are making a big push on flu vaccination in NY state. They say that ESPECIALLY young children and men over 50 need them, these were precisely the groups that they were not recommending them to earlier.

Guess they want to make sure those "virgin populations" get enough poison. Well we won't be ...

I suppose some sort of documentation was required. That's why they offered them at work, so they could monitor it.

Wonder if religious exemptions from vaccination were honored.

OSHA doesn't support the mandation of the flu shot.

Mayo Clinic showed in a study that getting the flu shot doesn't stop you from spreading the flu.

Cochrane Institute show that getting the flu shot doesn't offer any protection what so ever.

You should not have to decide between keeping your job & having toxic loads of mercury injected into you.

*shrug*

Your constitution also doesn't say you are not allowed to be drug tested at work or that you aren't allowed to be fired for smoking a joint according to that drugtest the previous weekend.

Either you want more worker rights and be in bed with the nasty liberals on this issue or you should be perfectly fine with the notion that an employer has the freedom to demand anything from you or get fired.

Re: TriHealth fires 150 employees for not getting flu shots
I remember being a young nursing student and my one instructor I had, said something like this: " If we have vaccines for every virus that is out there, our immune system can't think for itself. She thought that this is where we get HIV/AIDS from. I had chicken pox, so did my kids, who are now teens..I refused the CP vaccine as I refuse the FLU shot every year. A couple of years ago, when the Swine flu hit around...everyone of my immediate family except me and my one son..came down with it. My doctor told me that it was because I aquired the immunity from my mother in her womb, at the time of my gestation, the Swine flu had made its round. I don't know why my one son did not get it...that puzzles me today. I think Flu shots cause Alzheimers...not to mention vaccines link with Autism.

I only take jobs with the nursing agency that does not require flu shot. If it is required I say no thanks not interested in working for them.

I can survive working very very little if I have to do to principle of the thing as I've saved money and stocked up.

This is the only answer...for those of you who think it can't be done.. I say this... I have sued and won judgments against ... The State Of Conn.. Labor Board.. Bank Of America.. And a malpractice suit against a Dentist..all in small claims court. Trust me.. it's the only way to get any justice and it costs about $25 to bring suit.. Your law suit will be approved by the clerk of courts because they have no say in what is a case and what isn't.. You will get a court appearance and/or an out of court settlement.. bump

Me I would walk right off the job, and file a suit.

No way no how, they are pushing these shots too hard and given what we see every day with creeping incrementalism, first they force these people to get it, then its another group, next thing we are ALL forced to get it.

No thanks, that's my line in the sand. I see people screaming about abortion and keeping "Laws off their body" well, keep your shots off my body TriHealth.

Yes, I remember when it was EMT's & first responders who were targeted for the flu vacines.
Now it's all nurses, soon to be all health care employees, including dentists (if it's not that way already).

If the health care people don't stop this it will eventually be "Everyone NEEDS t get a flu shot-it's mandatory" and then the health care workers will be sorry because their kids will get jabbed.

People need to stop it now.

Re: TriHealth fires 150 employees for not getting flu shots
I work for a hospital system that basically is managed by a healthcare corporation (seems most of them are turning into that type of conglomerate); same deal--get the vaccine or be fired. It doesnt matter if you have nothing to do with the clinical (patient) contact side of business. The only 'relief' I've felt is that I had an option of getting the "preservative free" (as they called it) shot--not supposed to contain thermasol (sp)--meant for ppl allergic to eggs supposedly; I'm against this shot--never gotten one until I basically was 'forced' to in order to keep my job.

Aside from the speculation on the safety and general 'abuse' that may one day (or currently) exist (NWO) in receiving this thing, I question where my rights are as a free citizen of this country. People (employees) walk around the hospital--sneezing, coughing, sick as hell not wanting to take a sick day--I've become sick just because sick people come to work! That is just as much a threat to patients as if if were the flu, in my opinion. It's not the flu that's the threat..it's people not using common sense!

This country has gone to hell. They have stripped so many rights, people just are very unaware that they are being taken away continuously and at a fast pace. So I have no 'choice' but to allow someone to inject me with something they 'hope' will be the right strain of prevention in the first place? Oh, excuse me..my 'choice' is to be booted out on the street and hope I find comparable pay somewhere else in this piss-poor economy. If this is where healthcare is headed, we are ALL in trouble. Oh, and just a side note..the corporation that oversees all within the hospital system..COMPLETELY out of touch with what actually occurs WITHIN the hospital. Hospitals themselves are now being forced to run just like big freaking government..it truly is unbelievable; I dont know whether to be more frightened by that concept or more frightened that the people I work with seem oblivious to all of it...

You could tell them its against your religious beliefs to get vaccines. Employers have to make reasonable accomodations for an employees religious beliefs. Vaccines have unclean animals in them per Lev. 11 & aborted fetus cells.

Considering that OSHA does NOT support the mandation of the flu shot, this shouldn't be a problem.

Only those in direct care of patients only were required. That means the ones that were fired were nurses most likely.

This will help make the public even more aware that NURSES don't trust the vaccines!

Working in the Administration office of another system that had the same mandatory shot policy, 'they' said many people had used 'the excuse of religion' and it didnt fly with them; unless you physically have characteristics that would classify your religion/ethnicity, I guess it's a lost cause..dunno. Not many years ago, I worked outside of the industry and truly want to get away from it before the next mandatory round. I see systems that take place every day that always remind me of the set up for the NWO (EMRs for example--electronic medical records--where your records are all electronic (paperless) for the govt/hackers to see and follow you no matter where your care will take place (eventually). This upcoming year, in order to save $30/month off of your healthcare premiums, you are strongly encouraged to participate in a 'healthcare' survey where you are basically asked for info that no one should need to really know; of course, you can take this survey to get your discount and answer 'unknown' or make up information, as some I know have, but I found it interesting they are offering a $$$ incentive to voluntarily provide information....again, people not even aware of what's coming down the pike..probably answering every answer to the detail thinking they are being 'good' boys and girls; long ago I used to think conspiracy theorists were just cracked because everyone treated them as if they were (and dont get me wrong..some definitely are lol!), but the last several years, how can anyone NOT question the deal...

In both systems I've worked, it was/is mandatory for ALL employees--clinical or not; you could have absolutely no contact with anyone and it's required. Stay-at-home people, such as Coders, are also required (because there may be the SLIGHTEST chance they would have to stop by the hospital at SOME point, though most dont). The only exception I know of is ONE employee who literally lives States away..that person is exempt. All others (thousands) are required..even independent contractor docs that only have privileges..everyone.
