Apart from a few chambers and tunnels, the Great Pyramid is solid rock (or cement, some say).

Yes they are filled with sand, and they are really giant Chia Pets but no-one wants to believe me.

If I had, I wouldn't have asked the question,

The base could be filled with sand, with just a rock
perimeter, and raised a bit to allow for compression
of the sand,
then another level of sand, and another course pushed
into place around the perimeter.

Are there drawings showing the construction?
I seem to recall hieroglyphics showing slaves pulling
blocks around.
