It's not the lack of sex that makes you happier though. It's the lack of a GF. Having a GF means more stuff on your mind and you always have to be considerate in all your actions.

Eliminating the GF (figure of speech) eliminates lots of issues. That would be the cause of you cheering up. You can be more independant and are more free in your actions.

I advise you to NOT have a GF, but if you can, DO have casual sex on a regular basis. The combination of those two will make you even happier than you are now
