Don't know we dont issue "yellow" warnings red warnings green warnings or any other colour, maybe its a new yank type of thing they have started over here we seem to be picking up a lot from you guys but im looking outa my windows right now and the sun is out hardly any wind and i live about 20 miles from the coast .

lol, yellow warning has been around UK in the last two weeks in different places.

Kid??...mmmmm I m 48 !! lol , just saw it on Skynews and have not seen it before so I thought I'd got hold of something special .....

yh pretty much and high winds across much of the country

but it has a killed a person we still got flooding from sometime ago so its gonna add more to it ......

I know that it doesn't sound bad as most but think about geographic's out in the channel its storm force winds around the coast up to where I live in norfolk east england and the wind is fairly strong but nothing I haven't seen before.....

but it still could cause a lot of problems else where even where I am its quite irregular for wind to be this bad this early in the season.

we do get issued with coloured warnings all the time

If anyone is worried check on here for weather and links to flood warnings on so on I don't think it gonna be so bad but I know some area are inundated with flooding and I know that some one has died this time round and I think 1 or 2 died a few days ago with the last floods

I'm a soft southerner living in Scotland. I went to the islands (Hebrides, western Isles) - and found them BEAUTIFUL, but when the weather turns bad up there, watch out.

I was having a meal in my hotel restaurant and the wind outside was incredible - you could see waves smashing into the cliffs and going like 150 feet into the air. The rain was horizontal and the sky almost dark. I asked the waitress on a scale from 1-10 (10=bad) how this storm rated. She waved her hand and said, Pah! - not even a 1.

So, now I find it pathetic that when the south of England gets more than a few raindrops the BBC goes into NATIONAL CRISIS mode! Ha!

In Scotland last year, we had "Hurricane Bawbag(TM)" a.k.a. Friedhelm, where the wind reached 160Mph. If that shit had hit NYC or London, there would be a few stumps left sticking out of the ground. But Scotland just got up and on with life....

Sensationalist crapola. A few inches of rain, or snow, or some mild winds for ONE night and it's a "crisis". People in other nations would break into side splitting laughter if they knew how pathetic we are xD

bearing in mind weather does vary form what part of country you are for example I was a great yarmouth some time back and the waves were rolling on to and up the beach like a Catherine wheel and flooded the caravan park I was other times its placid. but even with this turn of weather there has already been flooding and now there is more rain to hit those area's again although the weather may not be to bad but when its prolonged it does cause problem, when we get a cold snap there will be sheets of ice all over and the local councils can't cope with that so that would be more fuel to the fire it all goes on common sense and preparedness, granted you can't see much in your sleep but keep an eye on the signs we have lost touch and remain on tech to tell us what to do ...... this winter will be a harsh one it would be rougher up there for you so take care

I don't know lool but it does take some significant weather in our standards to bring em out though which may be why you don't get many ........ I just meant that we do have a colour warning system and have had it for years exoect wuite a few to spring up this winter period and first quarter next year

it's not as bad for you up there cos up there, this shit is NORMAL, and you cope with it, no probs. you are set up for it. you ARE talking about the Hebrides too. Hardly the hub of the universe, eh?

the reason down here is so populated, is because our climate is much more benign, and people have built houses on low ground, which was OK when things weren't as fucked up as they are now. the ground down here now is saturated, and even low amounts of rain can cause flooding. God help us when winter starts to bite too, as i'm sure it will this year, hard.

well said I keep saying that this winter will be a bitter one you can tell the signs are there and although this weather isnt unusual for this time of year but the magnitude of it is half way through next week its meant to turn cold and that is when we will have the ice and local councils are no where need prepared for any form of weather above average even that they struggle
