Thank you OP I am going to read all this and let you know my opinion, not that it will do anyone any good because noone knows for sure something will happen on either dates.
We all have to wait to see if something is going to happen and preparing for what could be a non-event looks so foolish these days.

Now, calculate this:

18 days x 24 hours x 60 min = 25920 min
Which is the same number as the whole precessional cycle of 25920 years. The final spiral arm before zero...

Ummmm no, the end date isn't this year at all. Still unfulfilled Bible prophecies like the enforcement of the mark of the beast and the 7 last plagues have to happen first... 2013 will be here before we know it! Carry on!
