This does not seem that bad, you guys are overdoing this one.

STFU unless you live there and are seeing it.

This is what people did before SANDY, and told everyone it was NO BIG DEAL, and now lots of people are homeless, and still flooded, and IT WAS A BIG DEAL.

Unless you are willing to put them up at your house when they get flooded or trees blown onto their houses, STFU!

Re: Northwest, N. Calif., Braces For More Rain and Snow!!!
Back in 1978 Folsom Lake was nearly dry (1M acre foot lake). "They" said it would take years to refill to capacity. It took exactly three weeks.

The old bridge crossing the American River canyon is pretty high above the river but it was submerged under 42ft. of water.

I live by Folsom Lake on the western side of it, Placer County. The rain we have already had has my grounds wet, still. I am looking at ground that is primarily dg , decomposed granite, which drains really well, but when it gets too wet it has the same problems that other types of soils exerience earlier.

My neighbor who built on my other property covered the hill with concrete and provided no drainage so we are worried that all that water is going to cascade down the road above us and down across our granite escarpments and overwhelm our drainage. So, we brought home a pump to, hopefully, address that. Wish us well, please.

Be happy to; I have lived here right in the middle between SF, and SAC for many many years and we get this every year just about...this is not anything out of the norm here..you are fear mongering for no reason.

Anyone who has lived here long enough will tell you because we live in a low valley between two mountain ranges the rain falls like this every year; it does not take some pineapple express DOOM guy to blow a normal thing out of proportion. bsflag bsflagbsflag here is 3 of them as you do not live here and are really full of yourself...

Hey retard, I'm glad you live in a low valley and the storm won't affect you but you do realize this storm is hitting other areas besides your valley? Like coastal mountain ranges where we have to deal with slides?

Where is HERE that you are referring to? The storm is affecting from Monterey county to southern Oregon. For some reason you think your stupid little town in some valley near Sacramento is the only place affected? You've not travelled out of Sacramento much if you don't think there are rock slides in California!!! And I'm not giving away the town I'm in. I'm in Monterey county.

Re: Northwest, N. Calif., Braces For More Rain and Snow!!!
The first storm will move into the area Today. Several stronger storms will impact the region Thursday through Sunday. The first system will bring strong southerly winds and moderate to locally heavy rainfall and heavy snow in the Mount Shasta area above 4500 feet. Strong winds could make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 3 to 5 inches of rain is expected for many locations west of the Cascades through Thursday, with more than 10 inches expected by Sunday morning in some areas. This will increase flooding potential by the end of the week. Remember, if you come to a flooded roadway, turn around...don't drown. Please see your latest local hazards and the Hydrologic Outlook for further details. [link to www.wrh.noaa.gov]

It would take at least 4 to 5 weeks of these storms to really do anything...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25628475

Do you actually live in California? I do and just a couple days of rain can cause mud slides. Where I live I'm worried about rock slides closing down the roads. Trust me, this storm is bad news for people who live in the coastal mountain and forest ranges.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22093951

I'm expecting to lose power. Very few other local hazards here, we are 50 feet or more above the creek, and this land is stable.

This is indeed a rare event. It is what is called an Arkstorm because of the amount of rainfall/snowfall that the area can potentially receive. Just because your whole life has been mundane does not mean that it can't change in an instant. I have noticed this mentality where people considered stable of mind have the mindset that nothing ever changes, life will continue on as normal always and forever until the end of time. Yet the whack jobs are considered those people whom watch and, albeit jump to conclusions sometimes but, know that something will eventually happen.

Look throughout history. It was a mere 150+ years ago that these big events have happened. It can and WILL eventually happen again. All things are cyclic and repeat; From each breath you take to the rotation of our solar system inside our own galaxy.

Don't be surprised when FEMA and DHS gets involved that they will require all affected persons in evacuation areas to have placed on them an RFID! This has been happening in the east after Sandy, and will be happening in any "disaster", natural or manmade!

^^^^THIS.
 Quoting: snark

The following information should peak your senses as to what is actually going on! Its not a coincidence! This article was published on October 18, 2012!

"Radiant RFID will provide the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHSP) with an RFID-based managed evacuation solution that tracks evacuees, pets, emergency transport vehicles and commodities deployed at state shelters in preparation for and in the event of a hurricane, natural disaster or other incident to assist in reunification of families.

"Austin, Texas (PRWEB) October 18, 2012

Radiant RFID (“Radiant”) announced today that the State of New Jersey has awarded the company a five-year contract to assist evacuation and emergency tracking during catastrophic events.

Radiant will provide the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHSP) with a managed evacuation solution that tracks evacuees, pets, emergency transport vehicles and commodities deployed at state shelters in preparation for and in the event of a hurricane, natural disaster or other man-made incident to assist in reunification of families. In addition, Radiant will manage hardware components, deployment processes and training as well as all maintenance and management functions in support of the State of New Jersey.

Utilizing the latest in passive RFID technology, Radiant’s Emergency Management Solution is the only RFID-based solution designed to assist emergency management teams with large-scale evacuations by making the continuous movement of people, pets and assets easy to track without repeatedly stopping people to take their names or scan bar codes. The seamless tracking helps eliminate lines, reduce redundancy and keep families together in times of emergency.

Along with the 8.8 million residents of New Jersey, Radiant RFID’s solution covers the State of Texas, State of South Carolina, and City of Boston – approximately 18 percent of the United States population."

Yes “THE SKY IS FALLING!” “THE SKY IS FALLING!!” lmao the majority of you here on GLP will grab at any straw to make DOOM out of a mole hill….and if you live in Monterey County in a Rockslide area, that is your own dumb luck..no one asked you people to build houses on the side of sheer cliffs right next to the costal shelf of the country. It does not take a structural engineer to tell you that you are inviting disaster building in that area. In fact you have been warned for years that the areas you are building on are very unstable and could go at any time; if it takes a few days of rain to make you wake up than you are already a lost cause.
