The Russian River is 12 ft at the Hacienda bridge (Forrestville) It was at 6 ft @ 4pm Thursday. (report is a few hours old)

This is unreal! I've never heard of winds that strong in those heavily wooded mountains. Redwoods have very shallow root systems. I'm betting there are a lot of huge trees blowing over.

I have had 2 7/8 inches of rain since last night. Only one tree down so far. We filled and installed sand bags yesterday so hope they will help and so far it seems they are working.

Family member sent some cell phone pictures from San Francisco clear skies from the past 2 days. However Shasta is forecast a maximum of 218 inches of snow in four days.

The Thursday morning National Weather Service summit forecast for Shasta predicted an incredible 33 to 39 inches of snow -- just for Thursday alone.
