In the five years it seems to take to get a four year degree these days, you could become a journeyman electician, plumber, plasterer, bricklayer, carpenter, or even a novice farmer. In short, you could be useful to people so that they would PAY you.

A degree in negro girl lesbian studies won't do that.

Trades, trades, trades..

My generation grew up being told that if you didn't go to college, you would end up being a bum your whole life. Almost everyone I know (who didn't join the military) went to at least a community college or better. Money was spent, time was wasted and now, more than a decade since we got out of high school, many of them have moved back in with their parents.

The idea that college is (always) a magic ticket to success is an illusion. While it is necessary for certain fields, if one is not enthusiastic about getting the most out of the learning experience, the likely outcome is a huge amount of debt and a job at the local mall. Even graduating towards the top of the class seems like there's still no guarantee that the knowledge will be financially compensated.

The time and effort that goes in to getting most degrees can be spent more wisely. Throughout much of my 20's, while my friends were complaining about having to study and how much books cost, I was working two jobs and saving my money. I now have my own little business that affords me to live quite comfortably and still have the free time to waste here with my fellow morans and tards. I try not to be bitter about the arrogance that many of my college-bound peers have had over the years but in all honesty, it is a bit satisfying to see some people reap what they sow.

Not to get off-topic, but what's really concerning is this current generation's lack of interest in learning. High speed internet has become so accessible that anyone who wants to learn can do so essentially for free. Knowing that college is still being pushed as the most ideal plan makes me worry about the future more so than most of the potentially immediate doom we talk about here every day.

I salute you self-made moran! I became a model right out of high school (dumb!) and then put myself through college by working and only taking whatever classes I could afford and using scholarships. Although my heart was set in things like Ancient History and Archaeology, I had the foresight and good advice of my parents, to choose a more employable career. I chose Psychology and while I have since realized I could never work with the public and certainly not listen to their depressing issues for the rest of my life; I ended up opening my own business, which is Obama-proof for the most part and is now starting to take off. This allows me to create my own workload and schedule and hang out with you fellow tards when I feel like it and even make money off my very profitable hobby, fine art, without having to pay out the butt for some tard BFA or MFA degree. I do utilize my psych skills in my work and even in my art, to a certain extent, it's certainly come in handy, so I'm not unhappy with my investment and I have no loans to repay. I had no loans, but I did have scholarships and I paid the rest myself. It was easy to keep straight A's in psych, as it it with any liberal arts/social science major . It's all about being smart... an advanced degree is great if you plan to be a lawyer, doctor, or scientist but if you want to get a Masters in Art or Sociology, don't be surprised to end up teaching a a local community college, if you're lucky!
