Our need to have the latest, flashiest "stuff" (remember George Carlin?), has resulted in huge landfills. Some people never even consider giving their used goods to a second hand store, which is too bad. People could use it, and often can't afford to buy new.

That's true that most places are picky about what they accept. How stupid is that? Somewhere someone will want what you are offering. I just try to give away my stuff to coworkers and friends.
