Our need to have the latest, flashiest "stuff" (remember George Carlin?), has resulted in huge landfills. Some people never even consider giving their used goods to a second hand store, which is too bad. People could use it, and often can't afford to buy new.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28463717 i used to sen my used stuff to goodwill. i stopped because... 1. they are picky as hell now about what they will and wont take. 2. many times they price items higher than what i could or did buy the item for new. other places are a pita to donate to because they are picky or have limited times and/or locations. and no, i don't take them trash. used crt's that work, printers, clothes, bedding... they want to dig through piece by piece... take it all or dont take any! i just post these items on my facebook now and give people a week to come get it. otherwise it goes to the dump. half the time someone wants something on facebook they expect delivery and set up. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3946954 That's true that most places are picky about what they accept. How stupid is that? Somewhere someone will want what you are offering. I just try to give away my stuff to coworkers and friends.
