It's beautiful, like opal or abalone and catches and reflects light like little diamonds in the dirt.Has been used in jewelry and decorative arts since time immemorial, especially in lanterns and as lampshades because of the way it takes a small light source and makes it appear larger and brighter. The only significance of mica on a ceiling is that it indicates the room was used for a purpose that required sight, so it was illuminated. Don't want to link but if you go to google images and type mica lantern or mica lamp even mica ceiling (there's one) you will recognize these. Nice that it's heat resistant, too. Evidence of space flight technology? That writer doesn't get out much.... What was nice about it was that unlike glass, it didn't break if the lantern fell over. “Queen Sarah, save us from the Black Dog King!” - from the play, Dissocia [link to tasaonline.org.au (secure)] "Never be anyone's French poodle." - Mr Hamilton |
