Documentary - What happens to Earth if all Humans disappeared at once | |
DGN User ID: 27870140 United States 11/26/2012 12:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just started watching this and have found it to be extremely interesting. A great what if documentary about the breakdown of the planet if all humans just disappeared at once. It goes hour by hour ... days .... years ... etc, showing the domino effect of the loss of electrical power within the first 24 hours. In addition, how the domestic and wildlife changes. Quoting: OnTheFence [link to en.wikipedia.org] I'm not sure if I am able to post links to a site that allows you to play videos for free (not Youtube). Just do a search online ... I'm sure you'll find it. I'm not sure exactly how accurate the timeline of events are, but overall, it is interesting to see just how much us humans have affected this planet ... even after our disappearance. Great question; When electrical power shuts down 435 nuclear power plants switch to battery back up to run their cooling pumps. These only last something like 8 hours like at Fukishima then diesel engines take over turning the pumps for a few days. After they run out of fuel the reactors and their spent rod cooling pools start to boil over and within a week or two start melting down poising the earth virtually forever. |

They said about the only imprint of humans to remain after 500 years, would be what was left on the moon (shoe print, flag, etc - assuming you believe we've been to the moon, but that's a different discussion). |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24011285 Ahhh, sorry for the double thread then ... nothing came up in search here at GLP. I agree - overall, they did a great job in showing us the most probable break-down of human-made stuff versus nature reclaiming the lands and oceans. |
