Maybe you're living beyond your means if no $$$ was saved in 20 years.

1. Mother in law lost her house and was living on the streets, so we took her in. We pay for everything for her as she has NO JOB either!!!

2. Car broke down, cost us about 2,000.00 to fix (Not everyone has a BRAND NEW CAR)

3. Have kids that are growing, need to buy clothes and feed them ......

4. Utilities has gone over the top in rates

Sorry, but my husband was over seas for two years fighting so you and others could sleep peacefully at night, and job hunting while you are in another country doesn't fair well for interviews when your OVER SEAS!!!!!


I could go on and on, but your not worth it!!!

I feel your pain. I've been out of work since 2010. The only thing I've found was a 3 month contract job. Believe me I want a job and nothing ticks me off more than people saying there are jobs if you want one. I'm willing to settle for less but I can't live on 10.00 an hour.

I've gone through all my savings and retirement. Now I'm in about the same place you are...about to lose everything I have worked all my life for. Today I sold all my jewelry just to my my utilities, phone, water and my one luxury cable. YES I'm keeping my cable for one thing it helps take my mind off of tripping on troubles so for me it's worth it. It's a scary thing when you wished you would die instead of someone else. Or the end of the world looks like your best option at this point. It is a struggle just not to give up, a struggle to keep your joy and peace. Mental perspective is a big thing don't focus on the problem too much.

Since you appear to be a person of faith, I feel like I can say a few things to keep in mind. I meditate on scriptures that speak of not fearing, resting, trusting, waiting, casting your cares. etc. We can only do what we are able and the rest is up to HIM. There are some great online sermons that have helped me through some difficult nights when you can't turn your mind off.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

I'm with you I pray Jesus comes back soon. The stress is very tiring. God Bless you and your husband. I wished I could really express my gratitude and words seem inadequate but MANY thanks for his service and to you for the sacrifice.

I know some of the government jobs give preference to veterans, has he tried state or federal jobs. Sometimes they take a while to get through the hiring process but they pay well. Also, there might be some job training available you might look into. Hang in there, hold on to faith and believe it will all be o.k. and don't stop praying and seeking. I pray the Lords best comes your way!!

Depression in the USA has spread like a wild fire. Americans can't find a job and those who are collecting a small pension (make too much to get extra help)

We need to get jobs back into this country, we need something to strive for to give us purpose a reason to live???

Sorry you are having problems, but if he is retired with a degree, then he gets a nice pension and medical. If he was in the Middle East, he wasn't fighting for us or for the US. He was a corporate mercenary, military or not, and his pay was very very good. Officer pay, ranking, hazardous duty, so we're talking close to 6 figures a year for those two years.
In normal times, he made damned good money.

You say 'we' as if his job was your job. It wasn't.

Retired, means 20 years of officer pay income and re-up bonuses. You should have saved something. As it is, you have his pension and unemployment. It could be a lot worse.

I believe it's a cause not many people think about. It's a spiritual cause, a disconnect from God and following his laws. Yes there's a form of depression caused from chemical imbalance, but I've also had what I call spiritual depression. I notice I have a greater sense of well being when I'm trying to follow God's laws and keep an active prayer life. It's something to think about. hf
