Or could it be that we're dealing with someone who:

1. Has never posted here before.
2. Is in his 40s (said so himself).
3. Isn't the most technologically literate.
4. Has never had to deal with trolls before.
5. Has made some spelling mistakes in his haste to share information.

For all we know this guy could have been given a bunch of radio equipment by a friend/relative six months ago and has been amateurishly tinkering with it ever since. An unfamiliarity with jargon doesn't = dysfunctional. My grandmother refers to google as 'goggle' but the old bird still manages to 'goggle' all sorts of interesting stuff.

As for attacks on the man's spelling and grammar, in this thread alone I see at least one troll mixing up their your/you're usage. It's easy to do. Especially when you're a bit freaked out about something that you read or heard and want to share it.

Frankly, the stuff that has been turned up by this little thread has been pretty interesting. I think it IS plausible that the UK would be making evac plans for major flood centers.

Honestly, half of what got me to the end of this thread was all of the pointless demands to delete this thread! This guy is just passing on something interesting. He didn't ask anyone to believe him.

i tried googling strange noise, emergancies on scanner and got f all after 30 minutes of googling.

so i typed in conspiracy theroy forums into google a site came up with the top 10 this was number 1 so clicked this. Thats all.

I believe you OP. I think you probably have a CB radio and/or scanner and in a rush to tell your story, did not get your words straight.

I know if I was playing around on a CB/scanner and came upon a quiet channel that sounded intriguing, all I would be doing is putting my ear to the speaker to hear more.

I guess time will only tell what it's all about.

OP said he heard the following: "is this for real?" Crying. And 'what the fuck'. I don't know about you guys, but not how I would respond to potential flooding. So what kind of an evacuation situation would warrant such replies? if this is for real then that's where we should be looking.

FWIW, I think there could be something to this. It doesn't necessarily even have to be a police / emergency services operation either, nor one that is actually currently live.

I take with a pinch of salt the police saying someone was playing a joke. 1. I don't think they'd tell you if they did know anything, and 2. these things are compartmentalised on a need to know basis on every level, chances are, your local cop shop would know nothing about it anyway.

Another thing to bear in mind is the UK is set for it's worst winter in recorded history, plus its no secret that over the decades to come much of the UK's coastlines will be massively eroded or washed away anyway. Any Brits ever see that map from about a decade ago that showed what the UK may well look like in the next 50 years time. Much of east Anglia was swimming with the fishes. One big slip from Dogger Bank in the North Sea will sort that out, and it will happen one day. Any Brits remember the stormsurge warning from the North Sea to east coast regions a few years back?? Disaster has happened before and it will happen again, and could be on far greater scale some day. To not be prepared would be foolish.
