This study looked at the mood of 29 college students before and after they experienced one of three current popular songs vibrotactily via a viboacoustic equipment: 1) “Vibeology” by Paula Abdul, 2) “So Hard to Say 15 Goodbye” by Boys 2 Men, and 3) “Songbird” by Kenny G. Readings of the student’s finger temperatures were taken throughout their experience as a measure of stress levels. Overall finger temperature was found to increase during the vibrotactile experience. Increases in finger temperature have been reported to be a physiological indicator of reduced levels of stress. The increase in finger temperature was found to be statistically significant for each of the three songs used (p<0.05) suggesting that these particular musical selections were found to be relaxing by college students when experienced using Somatron equipment

I'm a 44 year old white woman and I was blasting Come Out And Play by Offspring the other morning at a red light. Some young black man pulled up next to me and rolled down his window and put his head out the window resting on his arms and gave me the biggest shit eating grin. He was highly amused, I could tell.

A few days ago a young black man was in his car in front of me blasting his music and "getting jiggy with it" dancing in his car. He got the attention of an older black guy stuck in traffic going the other way and pointed at him while he danced which cracked the old man up. When the old man got next to me, I pointed at him and started dancing to the radio of the guy in front of me. I thought that old man was going to fall out of his van laughing.

Once, on 4th of July, my brother and I went down to the Hudson River.

We are from Arkansas, but lived in NY at the time. We were the only white people there and there were lots of people. We decided to get out of the car and enjoy the fireworks. We walked across the field and sat in front of a billboard.

There were about 30 black kids playing and one, about 8 yrs old had a firecracker with a short fuse. He put it down about 5 feet from us and tried to light it and got scared and ran away. He did this three times and on the third try, my brother and I thinking alike, said "boom" at the same time.

The kid ran and his friends laughed and then this kid got really mad. He ran up to my brother, 19 at the time, and started pushing him.

This drew the attention of all of the grown ups. My brother immediately put his hands in the air so that everyone would know he wasn't hurting this kid.

For a minute it was scary, then some great level headed kid about 14 came and got him off my brother. We told him thanks, and figured we had worn out our welcome. We walked across the field to our car only to get there and realize I had left my keys where we were sitting. When we started back for them, that 14 yr old boy ran up with them. He said he took them from that same kid as he was about to throw them in the river.

He was a great kid, we were so thankful.
