I was behind the van in the photo in the link below this morning:

According to what is written on the back of the van, they accept EBT and Lone Star card. If you can afford the fee for a grocery delivery service, which I assume is not covered by EBT or Lone Star, then why can't you afford to buy your own groceries without the help of welfare? If grocery delivery fees are covered by EBT or Lone Star then it needs to stop. Having groceries delivered to your house is a luxury.

And before somebody says that some people on Lone Star and/or EBT are old and can't get around or are disabled, there are already services in Houston that deliver groceries to people like that and those services are paid for with donations rather than with the taxpayer funded dole.

If you have money to pay a grocery delivery fee then you could take the bus, that you get to ride on for "free" or at a very discounted rate thanks to the fact that bus fare is subsidized in Houston for poor people and disabled people who qualify for gov assistance, to the grocery store and apply the fee money to your grocery bill.

So, you're upset because you think that the ability to pay for a delivery fee out of pocket, which I agree it would probably have to come out of pocket, precludes being poor enough to justify being on food stamps. Alright then, explain please how on the flipside of that argument, you would presumably be okay with them having enough resources to have a car, insurance for said car, money for gas, and maintenance. Which is more? The delivery fee presumably every couple weeks or every month... or the upkeep of a car they'd have to have to not pay a delivery fee?
