VZ-58 vs AK-47
having shot both I pronounce VZ-58 to be superior to AK-47 in pretty much every respect

mag availability notwithstanding

VZ has been a fav of Mil contractors and various fighting forces for many many years.

If givin a choice between the 2 90% of pro's would go the VZ and thats a fact.

The VZ is everything the AK is and more.

Re: VZ-58 vs AK-47
Looks like the OP glossed over a few points; the VZ doesn't break down as easily as the AK, the magazine release isn't as accessible as the AK, the VZ doesn't have the lighter polymer magazines available.

Otherwise, the VZ 58 does seem like a healthy alternative to the AK. But I'd still stick with an AK based on familiarity, parts available, and price-point.

The VZ does break down just as easy as the AK, Also it's short stroke piston, and the ergo's are far better than the AK.

The VZ is a milled receiver and not stamped and its still lighter.

There is not one point that the AK beats the VZ.

Vz vs M4 is more of a battle.

as for polymer mags, it's a matter of time and besides you still wouldn't save any weight compared to stock ones

Did you watch the video? More internal parts with the VZ 58. You're kinda speaking out your Canadian ass...

Also, the VEPR AK is machine milled and hammer-forged (I'm guessing from your country, you're on the stupid end of gun knowledge, especially noting the M4 as a battle rifle - it's not, it's an assault rifle with a 50 year track record of getting our troops killed from being ineffective on the battle front). Also, does the VZ 58 beat on price-point? Because from the CZ website, those were going for $800 each. Does that beat the AK prices? Does the lack of VZ accessories beat the AK as well? Do blanket statements keep you warm up there in Canada?

Shows how much this redneck knows.
Must be a AK whore and not a real fighting man, If had of served you would know that top end operators use the VZ. Also alot of contractors cannot get firearms imported due to the US forces regs.

They want VZ's but have to most of the time settle for AK's

By the way have you ever shot a VZ? due you eeven know it's history?

They might be someday so buy one while the registry is dead and keep it a secret. The only reason it isnt already a prohib is because it technically isnt an AK variant. I guess they must have forgotten about it when they made the ban list, or possibly itès because it is more difficult than an AK to convert to full auto. Nobody really knows their reasoning and none of the laws make any sense anyway so just enjoy it while you can.

Re: VZ-58 vs AK-47
if you compare it to the riveted akm variants we see most in the states, the vz is a winner. if you compare it to a milled receiver (real) ak, the ak is at least it's equal. less moving parts, much simpler design, greater spares and accessory availability makes the "real" variant ak the better choice. but i'm an sks fan, so what do i know?
