if you compare it to the riveted akm variants we see most in the states, the vz is a winner. if you compare it to a milled receiver (real) ak, the ak is at least it's equal. less moving parts, much simpler design, greater spares and accessory availability makes the "real" variant ak the better choice. but i'm an sks fan, so what do i know?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28147705 the weight difference as compared to milled AK is tremendous Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1405186 if weight is a problem for you, then by all means go for the czech. pretty much a matter of preference. the ak is a tractor, built for reliable use over long lengths of time in the worst of conditions. they have proven themselves from the arctic to the hottest jungles. the semi fire control group is the oldest, most perfected system in the world (john moses browning designed). simple, safe, rugged, reliable. lots of gee whiz has come and gone, the ak combines all the "old reliables" in a single package. it's the choice for arming cavemen for a reason Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28147705 at this point in time I'm not a cavemen and probably neither are you weight is always a problem don't kid yourself
