Breaking!!!! THE ARK STORM FOR THE WEST COAST IS CONFIRMED

One just never knows how things will wash out do they. I mean come on already. New Orleans survived the hurricane only to have their levee's break the following day.

Sandy wasn't supposed to do as much damage as it did but as daylight came whole area's along the coast were desimated.

Now we have California up at bat. People should not underestimate the storms the systems and Mother Nature anymore. She's got control.

Things could get worse before they get better and yes enough rain could flood the basin where alot of food crops could be damaged. Even if half the food crops were damaged it could have a drastic effect not only in the US but in Canada and all the other countries that the states imports to which in turn effects the economy.

Don't take nothing for granted anymore anyone.

watched em in yuba city....got a bad feelin about what they were probably really doin...

the levees didn't break DURING katrina...they broke after....

the strom didn't do it so man helped out.

In sacramento, the black community in Del Paso Heights caught a work crew DIGGING OUT a levee during flooding...1985-86 flooding.

So I just got home and watched the video. Live an hour north of San Fran. Am I going to die this week? But seriously is this going to be a big storm? People are just saying it's going to rain Wed,Thur, Fri. No one seems alarmed, I havent even heard anything about flooding.

Sonoma County here... Yup. It's gonna rain. Nothing really on the news about these advisories. Funny how the "backside Intel" is always leaps and bounds ahead of the MSM.

The ARKstorm was what would be predicted as a major rainfall event that would consist of a lot of snowfall in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, followed by a tropical air mass that melts all the snow.

Such a scenario might actually be coming, with the first round hitting on Wednesday, then Thursday into Friday, another on Saturday, and then lasting through Sunday as well. A full five days worth of heavy rainfall in Northern and Central California.

This will bring heavy mountain snow to the higher elevations, but below 8,000 feet it should be all rain. This will melt a lot of the snow that is already up there and cause major flooding in the Central Valley zones.

The last Ark Storm lasted for 40 plus days. This storm is only supposed to last for a few days. Plus its winter.

Kind of like before Sandy. The news is slow to pick things up. The real concern with this storm is the central valley flooding, specifically Sacramento. The coast is well drained enough I don't expect anything other than some flooding right along streams and rivers.

As long as the levies hold this isn't going to be a Sandy.
But it will be a mess.

Yeah i'm in Sonoma County too. Guess i'll go buy some better rain boots for the puddles and a new umbrella. I haven't used an umbrella in 15 years, just always put up my hood.

There was a TV show on last year about flooding that could occur in the Sacramento area should a levee break occur. The specific area a government official being interviewed was the area known as the Pocket Area. Used to keep a boat in a marina just up the river from there and fished all along the river that goes around that area. South Sacramento on the west side of the river would be severely flooded should a levee break occur.

Figured I would try reverse psychology since I have to commute in this crap mainly in the pitch black on both major highways and back country roads. It is not the rain that I am scared of but other drivers. Looks like for this week I ll be switching from my 40 mile/gallon commuter car to my trusty F250 with the 8 lift and mud tires in case I gotta clear some water or steer clear of idiot drivers.

I'm in Sonoma County too. The paper only said rain Wednesday.
Warnings only on internet weather. We will see, but I will get some extra fire wood just in case of power outages. The internet said high wind too.

Funny thing is the government has been preparing for just such a "disaster" since Jan. 2011!

Will this happen in the next week or so? Maybe, maybe not, we'll have to wait and see. There are some other factors to include here and one is the FACT that there has been a sea level rise in the SF Bay and Sacramento Delta that has threatened lots of farmland over the last couple of years. Rivers don't drain as fast as they used to for this reason. Therefore, a relatively small but intense rain event could cause big flooding problems, especially if any of the levee's fail, for whatever reason. Weather warfare could play a very real part in this as well.
