Does Science Admit When it's Wrong
Some great stuff from the Thunderbolts group:

The problem is much larger than the personal willingness of an individual to admit he was wrong. Yes, countless working scientists conscientiously seek answers and admit when they’re surprised or when they don’t fully understand something. But the academic textbooks that millions of university students are reading and memorizing – “learning by rote,” as one young scientist puts it – are painfully slow to be rewritten. Many of the presumed “facts” being taught today have been and continue to be seriously challenged by scientific data and competing theories. Change in science is slow, painful, and often against the invisible, perhaps even unconscious force, of institutionalized resistance.

Re: Does Science Admit When it's Wrong
Science only reports its findings even if the test were crap and caused the results.

They do not admit wrong... the typically redo another study about 5 years later proving just the opposite so both times they look like heros.

As long as they are getting grant money to do the study they will study and come up with all kinds of results.

There is no "science". There are only scientists.
Some do, some don't.

Yeah, it's like with saturated fat and cholesterol consumption causing heart disease but the reality, it has much more to do with chronic high blood sugar brought on by excessive carbohydrate intake.

Same for Sun Scare that led to widespread vitamin D deficiency that caused so many health problems and most medical doctors don't even seem to know it.

Same for global warming caused by CO2 scam.

Makes you wonder about human evolution...

Re: Does Science Admit When it's Wrong
Remember the fundamental ignorance of science, empiricism, which says if you can't measure it, then it's not there.

But if a person farts next to a person with no sense of smell, does it mean the fart doesn't exist? Or merely that they are insensitive to it?

Re: Does Science Admit When it's Wrong
I was in a physics class, I dropped in on it,
and we were learning about Orbit.

So the class ends, I walk up to the professor and I start
mentioning how there must be space in b/w galaxies. He said astonished "..yes, there is. They're called Grange points." As if it wasn't to be discussed until much later in the chapters following his course.

So then I left class, and it occured to me that a function
has to exist within that space, and it has to be a negative time function, as the only positive function inside that
space would be gravity, and positive matter since there
would be no descending orbit and only ascending matter,
and ascending gravity, which would have reached 12 oclock
so to speak. Therefor the time begins decending, as another
orbit, or another clock.

So that means the clock, restarts as PM from AM vise versa.

And when I explained this to another student in the class, he said "Woah. Mind blowing."

So it's very evident that these students aren't
robots, nor are they moulds of somebody else' opinion. If the government really wants to enroll people in education, then release another stimulus package, and allow students to buy their bonds and treasury spreads like Greece and IMF. So when the students demand those bonds, they will increase, and anyone who isn't quick enough, is subject to the students who were able to capitalize on the market, and are now their own form of a bank, and a loan issuer, since not only will these students be able to afford to live comfortably enough for their year or years of studies, but in turn, will be able to lend to other students for their research projects.

The main point to be Science is to be wrong, being wrong causes things to move forward. Has the church ever admitted it was wrong?

Re: Does Science Admit When it's Wrong
I am a theoretical physicist and I agree very much with this article and it is a major problem.

A a very few of my physicist/scientist/researcher friends are ever willing to question the basic assumptions behind their theories or projects.

As a theorist, I fundamentally believe that ALL theories are inherently wrong or at the very best incomplete. There are many things taught at my university as rote that I consider to be non-factual and its very unfortunate that our students believe our theories to be the way reality works.

Granted many of our theories of physics work very very very well, but nature has never heard of them, so how great can they be?
