Logic Behind the Existence of Shills

Fact is, you wouldn't know irony if it was an IRON i-beam that hit you in the head.

I've put a lot of thought into my 'political' views and I can assure you that they are not on any grid that I am aware of. I would prefer not to get into my 'political' views at this time.

For the hell of it though let's just say that if the bird's, ant's, bee's, and rock's way of life were a political ideology mine would probably be rather similar.

But astroturfing is used not only by the government on conspiracy or political disinformation, but also by corporations, pharmaceutical companies, etc., to sway public opinion or make it appear that a majority agree with, well, what a majority DOESN'T agree with. I see it everywhere, not just in forums, but also in comments to news articles.

I could give many examples, but sometimes I wonder, why bother? This world really is an illusion, built on many, many, lies, starting with our history and who we are. Nothing is new or "discovered"---we've been there before. Still, some days I will attempt to either defend or debunk my personal point of view, before I realize what I'm doing.

Anyway we all know people lie a lot today, but they lied throughout history too. This is why history is so hazy, any written evidence is just as likely to be written by a liar as any current written document.

True about history....but it is VERY difficult in this modern era for politicians and news media to lie without being snagged in these lies.
Technology has seen to that...via the internet, cameras, video...etc.

I don't think that political ideology dictates how intelligent a person should be, not in mine anyway. So if a bird is aloof that has nothing to do with what the political alignment of the bird would be considered.

If there are 5 year old republicans or 5 year old democrats does that mean they all have the intelligence level of a 5 year old? Just because I might share a birds politics does not mean I have the intelligence level of a bird or suggest that others should have the intelligence level of a bird.

You TOTALLY avoided the issue.
It's not an issue right now of intelligence.....it's an issue of figuring out what category you fall into.

If you're referring to me I wasn't calling anyone a shill. I can see where the conversation took a turn, I was only stating that it was getting off-topic and perhaps we could move it back to where it was originally. In other forums I frequent it is frowned upon to speak off-topic. I don't personally frown upon such things, but I was hoping to have a discussion about my original topic.

Sorry if it seemed as though I implied he was purposely derailing the conversation, I wasn't.

No...those who say they have NO POLITICAL position whatsoever are full of it though.


EVERYONE has a political stance, whether they realize it or not, based on their beliefs, wishes, life they wish to live...etc.


Shills are a whole other thing entirely.

Moreover I personally don't see anything here worth derailing so no I am not accusing anyone of being a shill.

I'm not saying I don't have a political view, only that I don't see it fitting into any well known political grid such as the popular left wing/right wing deal.
