Re: Question for Christians regarding just how bad Homosexuality really is
A sin is serious if the act is a serious sin that violates any of the ten commandments, if the person is in full knowledge and with full consent of the will. Many people today I would say are not in full knowledge of the seriousness of their acts. God considers the intentions of the heart and will forgive anyone who has full contrition or sorrow for any harm they have caused others and if they ask for forgiveness in their hearts. Please remember this if you face an awakening or judgement. Anyone who accepts the mercy of God will be forgiven for even the worst sins. If you ask for God to show you if you have harmed another person and to show you the truth of all your transgressions, God will make it possible for all to have the opportunity to ask for true sorrow and ask for forgiveness. Please do this in your hearts before the illumination to save yourself some of the shock value. Sometimes we are given the grace of Gods mercy to not be shown the the seriousness of all our faults because if we were shown the effects of all our acts we would be in despair. I hoPe everyone has some loved one who can help you if you experience the illumination. I wouldn't want anyone to be caught off guard and not understand what is happening to them and to despair Gids mercy and love for everyone no matte what you have done in your life.

Sinning doesn't send you to hell.

You're already going there if you're human and don't accept Christ.

It's not punishment. It's your destiny.

All flesh is corrupted.

Sin brings turmoil to the world.

It makes things not work the way they were intended.

It creates it's own hellishness on earth.

It's bad enough. Unrepentant homosexuals committing sodomy will end up in Hell just like unrepentant heterosexuals committing fornication. They're both grave sexual sins, mortal sins if the person committing them knows full well that what they're doing is a serious sin.

Why don't people understand...

These bodies are not perfect. So a female soul in a male body and vice verse. God places the Spirit into human bodies, not the soul.

As for perversion, a deeper understanding is required.
God states that our actions reveal what level of heaven or hell we are from and will return to.

Religion care about all of these carnal issues, not God.

Christ states it's not you but what is in you that causes you to do these things.

I am playing Devils Advocate here (literally).

At Thanksgiving dinner, my Christian in-laws were arguing over how big of a sin it is to be homosexual. They said it is so bad that God put it in the Bible. So, my question is this - on a scale of 1 to 10 - one being the worst and ten, well, less worse, where does homosexuality fall in that scale?

Now that you have honestly (and by that I mean truthfully, with the whole truth and nothing but the truth) answered my first question, please answer this next question. If it's so bad, why didn't God put it in the TEN COMMANDMENTS?

In the ten commandments any sexual sin comes under the heading of adultery. If you are with anybody else besides your wife or future wife that God intended for you to be happy and fulfilled with it is considered adultery. It is also a part of the first two commandments which are to love God and your neighbor. If the sexual sin is causing you to be separated from God and is harming another person or using another person for your own personal gratification of lust rather than love then you are harming yourself and the other person.

Right . Sin is sin. People need to remember to read the Bible as a whole, and not just isolate verses.

Romans chapter 1 gives a description of the progressively
destructive nature of sins.
Verse 21 says "they did not honor Him as God or give thanks.
So not giving thanks is the beginning of sin.
Consequently their heart was darkened.
So then verse 22 thinking themselves wise, they became fools (godless)
Next verse 23 they worshipped idols.
Therefore verse 24 God gave them over to lusts and impurity, tat their bodies might be "dishonored".
Next verse 25, they deliberately chose to believe lies.
Verse 26, God took His hand off them, stopped protecting them and said, "have it your way," and He gave them over to degrading passions..."their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural." verse 27, and "men committed indecent acts and received in their bodies the due penalty of their error"... Maybe homosexuality isn't the worst sin, but it is the most degrading thing one can do to a body. Read those verses in the Bible, and the subsequent verses,....these passages give the full progression of sin. It begins with being ungrateful to God and now acknowledging Him. Then sin is described as being increasingly degrading and increasingly destructive.
God doesn't say that homosexuality is the WORST sin, but it is described as being one of the most DESTRUCTIVE. Throughout the Bible, sin is sin, and one sin LEADS to the next progressively more destructive sin.
God offers salvation to the ungrateful, to the idol worshippers, to the homosexual and other perverts, to the murderers, greedy, the gossips, to all sinners.
And He tells us right here in Romans that the sure path to progressively deeper and deeper, and to more destructive sin begins with being ungrateful and not acknowledging Him.
That's why I tell my kids, "Be grateful, or you'll become a pervert." My husband says, "That's Jo Ann 1:1"... nah, that's God, Romans 1.
The book of Romans is the full sweep of salvation. It shows that there is no excuse for denying God, for being ungrateful and becoming destructively sinful. Be saved today!

God told us it would be so:
Romans 1:32 "and although they know the ordinances of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them."

Though fully aware of the penalty for these sins, they go ahead and draw others into their evil. Haven't you noticed that those who are steeped in sin relish encouraging and succeeding in making innocents complicit in their wickedness?

Ok, I am done playing Devil's Advocate. Water doesn't go uphill. Once picked, Apples don't go back to the stem. Creatures grow old and die. There is a natural course to everything. To run afoul of the natural course and order of things that God created is simply to fight God.

The New Testament focuses on the 10 because the Old Testament is filled with rules that make things impossible. The basic 10 pretty much cover all the most important rules. Sex outside of marriage is a sin, since some divorces are outside the rules those people would also be in sin. As to why it exists perhaps it is too many men and not enough women and nothing more sinister than that.

A credit card pin. Yep-

Jokes apart, but if i loved to eat cooked pasta with salmon and zucchini and/or listen to
mino Reitano, go to stroll in a incinerator, why the hell someone should prevent me doing it?

One should have the sacrosant right to like whatever they want and when they want? Isn't america about freedom there??
however 'De gustibus non disputandum est'

you have to be ashamed to do the wicked evil, to be a greedy gold digger..... Not to love.
Homosexuality doesn't kill trees. Irresponsible purchases do.

Nature, holy nature!
I do not sit in a church to feel better about me. In walled rooms ... No! If i want to feel better I go in the nature, to a sea or a forest! That makes me happy. Nature gives me power and a pure feeling of life.
Churches are the cesspit of all the impurity that people gather voluntarily.

Water, trees and birds, they dont judge, they embrace you without expecting anything in return.
People go to church to feel accepted, and it works for some people; I have no problem with that. I just don't think that going to church is the right path for all people, that is why I cherish the ability to believe what I want. Don't hesitate to hold your own beliefs even if they do not coincide with the Bible.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV / 54 helpful votes

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Pointless, wholeheartedly pointless. Christ say that he has come unto earth to abolish the old laws as in Leviticus since he was the new law.

If one has to stick with leviticus it stays written:

Lev 20:13
"abomination" or in the Hebrew "toevah" Unlike what the English translation implies, toevah did not usually signify something intrinsically evil, but something ritually unclean for Jews. Eating pork, shellfish, lobster, eating meat 3 days old, trimming beards, etc is just as much an "abomination".

Leviticus 11:7 talks about pork as being unclean meat. Most Christians do not take the numerous texts in Leviticus seriously where the word abomination is used. Leviticus 11:10 is one of a passages where unclean food is called an abmomination. Christians generally do not consider eating pork an abomination, but Leviticus (11:11) considers even the carcases of unclean animals to be an abomination. Clean and unclean meat laws are not something most Christians feel any obligation to keep, yet many Christians insist that being gay is an abomination, when eating they feel eating pork is not an abomination.

Christians wish to enforce the laws of Leviticus upon gay people need to admit their theology is very inconsistent and is potentially flawed.
