Report: Iran will soon have weapons-grade uranium

Since it's been all talk from the West over the last 17 years I'm guessing we'll wake up to a nuclear-armed Iran in the very near future.

I wonder if it'll be an underground test..

..& they shall be showered with 'flowers' and greeted as liberators.

I'm always cautious to take these reports with a grain of...okay...a BUCKET of rice..but it's interesting how much it's been intensifying lately.

Hopefully not a case of 'boy who cried wolf' in the respect that everyone gets sick of the reports, stops paying attention to them and then one day we wake up to news of an underground nuclear test by Iran.

Even so, if the other NINE nuclear powers have the right to own a bomb perhaps the world can make room for a tenth..

Saudi Arabia recently launched a nuclear program. Yep. That one flew under the radar huh.

Brazil and Turkey are also considering one in the near future. I can only imagine what a Turkish nuclear program would do to that region..

But yes you're absolutely right, there are plenty more dodgy countries than Iran going down that path. One is located on the Mediterranean coast, a few miles from the Egyptian border..

1.iran exports alot of oil. yes or no ?

2.what were to happen if they stoped produceing that oil for energy and export and started produceing power ?


3.how would the above effect global gas prices?

IMO if the first question is correct( iran produces alot of oil yes or no ?) then gas prices here would go higher very high.
that effect logistics, food, water , transoprtation, and countless of things oil is backed by.

heres a example gas becomes $7 so the price gets passed on to the consumers. that bag of chips made in texas now cost double to ship to new york ect.

do you think we will let that happen ?

If Iran is ever to use nuclear material in a war, the do not need weapons grade material.

Why not?

It is far more effective to use a couple of dirty bombs.

In response to the first of the two, yes I believe Iran is the third biggest oil exporter (if my memory serves me correct). They're certainly in the top 4 OPEC oil producing nations.

If Iran develops a self-sufficiency in nuclear power, yes that will have a bearing on the oil economy to some extents.

I really can't envisage anyone going to war with Iran these days though. They have too many trump cards to play in the region (Hezbollah, Syria, Lebanon, Strait of Hormuz closure, Mahdi Army in Iraq, Sadr, etc, etc, etc, etc). It would not be a successful war for whoever launches it against them.

As for Iran building a dirty bomb and using it? Well I dread to even think about the ramifications of that. It certainly wouldn't do Iran any favours.

Short of a unilateral Israeli airstrike against Iran in the next three months, I cannot see the status-quo changing in that region unless they (a) build a nuclear weapon or (b) succumb to the Arab Spring/Revolution.

The point of the thread is to evaluate where this takes Bibi's "red line" and what happens next.

Precedent would suggest nothing will happen (given the last 17 years of "boy who cried wolf" coming out of Israel).

However, if this news is in fact true, then it means Bibi has to put his money where his mouth is and do something. Otherwise his legacy will mean nothing.

IMHO I think they'll get the bomb one day. I don't have a problem with that considering nine other countries have the bomb and we've avoided WW3 possibly because of that very reason.

aaaaaaaaaaanyway, as I was saying, it's important to look at how Israel will react to this given Bibi's "red line".

He did end up revising his estimates about when the IDF would have to act, but nonetheless he's put his political career on the line in saying it.

Hopefully nothing comes of it but every development like the one spoken of in the link is important for this reason.

The problem with your logic is that its not logical, Islam is a religion which relishes death they want to bring in a global Islamic caliphate, why on earth would they NOT want to drop a nuke on the western kafir.

US will then either blame Iran for this event or perhaps say that in order to prevent such attacks in future, it now has to attack Iran nuke facilities and any other nation the US has on its list.
