Re: BREAKING: Morsi Stands His Ground - Clashes Erupt in Cairo near US Embassy - Emergency Message Issued for US Citizens
13:30 Back on Tahrir, Ahram Online journalist Zeinab El-Guindy reports numbers are increasing, with a diverse cross-section of society protesting against the declaration.

"Leave Morsi" and "Morsi you coward, you agent for the Americans" are the main chants, El-Guindy adds, while anti-Brotherhood banners are being hung over the square.
 Quoting: DoorBert

To any Egyptians possibly reading this thread, I can promise you that Morsi is by no means an "agent" for America. Now he may be an agent of the person currently (still) residing in our White House (and we continue scratching our heads over that one), but he most definitely does not represent anything close to my America - and we fully support ALL efforts you may deem appropriate to rectify your issues there.

God speed, freedom be with you, and our prayers for your success in retaking your country from the criminals that stole it will continue.

The government closed all of the schools today, public and private.

It's starting to gear up now.

Know these protests are not only in Tahrir; they are all over the country.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm more than a little on the scared side.

Is there some kind of Council of Judges that is standing up to Morsi?

What is the organised opposition to Morsi's power grab?

I've linked a Youtube video (skip to 1.14 in the video time) to showcase how women dressed at the Tehran university BEFORE the islamic revolution...but the entire clip really shows Iran was a completely different country, light years away from the barbaric, terrorist supporting regime of today who treats women like piece of meat !

Our enemy is NOT the people of Iran it's the current ayatollah regime !

It's not that kind of time or place.

Thousands of middle aged guys are peacefully -- if vigourously -- marching around mad at one politician.

This isn't ethnic or international. It is a popular uprising against a greedy, powergrabbing politician.

The Egyptians have again and again -- with very, very few criminal exceptions --showed themselves as restrained and self-respecting people during a time like this.

How I wish I understood Arabic!

This livestream has been alternating between 4 different news feeds of HUGE demonstrations.

[link to www.ontv-live.com]

Are they trying to pressure Morsi to step down, or renounce his dictatorial powers?

Do they favor a Council of Judges to step in to take the reigns of government?

Are they marching towards any particular government building?

For every one criminal hell-bent on raping foreign women, there are thousands of decent, steady, sturdy family men setting up neighborhood watch groups to protect everyone in their local neighborhood.

The people out demonstrating know that they run the risk of violent opposition.

The local custom and culture is to protect the women, children, and seniors who remain peacefully at home. So they establish neighborhood watch groups.

Morning Lady Jane.

hfhfhf

Its all coming to a focal point as per plan.

Iran rearming Hamas, Patriots being setup in Turkey, Barak quits, what's next?
 Quoting: DoorBert

Egypt highly destabilized -- what will Morsi do to maintain power?

Syria continues to worsen.

Unrest in Jordan & Lebanon -- likely instigated by Hamas.

This will likely blow sometime in the next couple of months, if not sooner. Winter is the time for ME drama. Summer is too hot to hang out & riot.

If it does not happen between now & March, will probably settle down again until the next cool season.
 Quoting: Lady Jane Smith

LJ, I see it as possibly another way...

With many M.E countries in basicly, civil wars, an all out war against another country will be difficult at best and a disaster at worest.

Even if terrorists grab weapons in thses M.E. countries, their ability to use them well is all but non-existant.

For example, if the musli brotherhood completes it's take over of egypt and tries war with Israel, they will find their disorganized mess will be completly destroyed for a "6th" time.

Personally, I don't see Syria or Lebanon doing any better.

With that, persia is al alone.

peace
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28464612

At first I was a skeptic about the idea of a Caliph, but now I am wondering if the widespread unrest is not to provide opportunity to grab power in the ever increasing vacuum?

I agree that an all out war against another country is almost impossible under the current conditions, but if a power grab is made, then mobilizing later in the form of a coalition is a frightening thought.

It is starting to appear that Persia may be behind much of the unrest, possibly with the support of some factions within our own govt. Persians are certainly not stupid; we must remember, the invented chess, & are thinking far more long term than the Western mind typically embraces.

It is fascinating & terribly frightening to watch this unfold.
 Quoting: Lady Jane Smith

The motivation to establish the Caliphate is a very real one; one in which Hussein Obama has been asked prior to serve as the Western representative as Caliph.

It is frustratingly obvious the moves made recently by Obama and his administration to, in the very least, support the emplacement of Muslim Brotherhood in order to further attaining this goal.

As the greater balance of the US population is consumed with their continued personal distractions ranging across the board from their latte' to their Obama phone, Hussein & Co. have been focusing their attention to removing heads of state, only to pave the path for the MB.

What we're seeing now in Egypt is no accident as well, nor was the decision of naming Egypt to oversee the cease fire between Israel and Gaza. Additional unrest now in Egypt focused on the government pulls the light away from such oversight, and any change to that government, if even by appearance only, opens the door for the cease fire to go on unmanaged, to collapse completely, or to be enforced by a "new" Egypt government that is predisposed to side against Israel with no effort of impartiality towards either side.

This is not unrelated to the Israel/ Gaza conflict, nor the balance of the unrest in the ME, including West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia, Libya, Syria, and Turkey. Every minute of these, collectively, are at their core a means to further the emplacement of the MB at Hussein & Co's direction, thereby creating and installing the Caliphate.

It is very real, and "the writing is on the wall" for those who wish to see beyond our first-world distractions.

Well that's a poignant question because there was a big hoop-tee-doo the other day because, evidently, the president got wind that the judges were going to rule something or other unconstitutional (there has been such a political and legislative whirlwind, it's hard to remember) and if they did that, the president would no longer be president and the country would return to military control. I dunno, but the word "jihad" doesn't simply mean 'holy war', but traditionally means something more like 'struggle with righteous resolve'.

Only within the past decade or two has jihad become synonymous with violence and terrorism.

According to Muslim aquantainces, it is more traditionally used to describe just this sort of thing going on now, a righteous struggle to depose a dictator. It could be peaceful or violent. If people most generally tend to be peaceful and reasonable, then this sort of thing is a peaceful and reasonable jihad, but a true jihad just the same.

Or one can "wage jihad" against things like one's own overeating or laziness.

If you mentally translate jihad as struggle, things make a lot more sense.

Kind of like the English word crusade. You can take up weapons and crusade against an enemy and shed lots of blood. Or you can go on a crusade against making yourself fat with junk food by cleaning out your pantry.
