The book seven and seventy.
Greetings,

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

I have searched, and not seen any discourse relating to the Decalogue and the ways it is interpreted. I have recently taken to study it in relation to Liber OZ.

[link to hermetic.com]

In general, it is simple to see that the two say essentially the same thing, however OZ doesn't put quite as much pressure on the doctrine of a "God" (higher being, creator, whichever term you prefer), which, at least in my opinion, is a very much needed change to the current mainstream approach to everyday life.

The one controversial point is number 5, however in comparison with Islam it is quite "light". Even though, it is justifiable - I wouldn't want to be artificially restricted from taking advantage of the fruits of my work by a burglar, for example. If I were not to at least have the power to protect them, there would be no point to the book.

There is also a lesser issue, which we see slowly fading as years pass: the issue of expressing love. As we currently see, the main difference between the Decalogue and OZ is that where the Decalogue discourages infidelity to ones man or woman, OZ doesn't. On the contrary, it takes a very much individualistic perspective, contrasting to the old "family as the base social unit" take on things. I personally prefer that, since nowadays it's much, much harder to either support a family or have time for it.

Anyway, I am eager to see what your thoughts on this particular issue are.

Love is the law, love under will.

PS. I intentionally didn't mention that the Decalogue had been abolished by Jesus - most people still stick to it, so it's still relevant as a moral guide.
