I'd love to know which year jeeps were the best built because I"m actually looking to pick up another one. Great cars built to last. No frills, not pretty or comfortable really, just a solid work horse which is good enough for me.

As a car guy and former Jeep technician, I'd recommend a 1992 XJ Cherokee. That was just about the best one ever made.

1992? That year was significantly better then later years?

I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Yeah sure. I found the 88-92 Xj almost completely trouble free. 90% of the ones from those years only ever came in for just routine maintenance. In 93 build quality went way down from where it was before. I think it had something to do with the rush to release the ZJ. I think XJ quality went back up during the Daimler-Benz years. XJ with a 4.0 liter engine is my suggestion.
