Don't they have better things to do?

Honestly, I realize a person does not represent a group.

But common. To much free time.

Muslims would have freaked out by now.

Instead Christians are fearful from their own country men.

For shame North America. For shame.

Even though it's my own opinion that I don't agree with it, we live in a country of free speech. The answer to the question is that it is fair.

Atheists do it as a chaotic uneducated joke, whereas the manger scene is within astrological precision and observances of solstice and celestial alignments.

This is no huge blasphemy or any big deal at all. Our creators knew what they had created - imperfect, short sighted but curious humans. It makes no sense to create an imperfect population and then blame it on them!

If God grants us free will, who are the self righteous a-holes to take judgement into their own hands and take it away?

Who said anything about us taking judgement or taking anything away? And GOD does grant us free will, and some of us will pay for abusing that privilege.

Re: Atheist group again erects irreverent Nativity scene in Wisconsin Capitol Rotunda
For the second year in a row, atheists in Wisconsin have set up their own version of the traditional Christian creche in the Capitol Rotunda.

Like typical depictions of the Christian Nativity scene, the “natural nativity scene” displays a small child in a manger surrounded by wisemen. However, this display proclaims “the reason for the season” is the Winter Solstice and the wisemen are not strictly men — Emma Goldman, the goddess Venus and the Statue of Liberty stand beside Charlies Darwin, Albert Einstein and Thomas Jefferson. The baby Jesus has been replaced with a baby girl.

Atheists are stupid.. The Manger is the birthday child of Sol Invictus, Birth of the Unconquered Sun, winter solstice.

The animals are ARIES. (Lamb) and TAURUS ( Bull) along with Orions three belt stars that represents the three wise men

Its the celebration of winter days getting longer, and turning into spring..

People back then didnt have clocks and calendars, but they observered the stars. They had to keep track of the seasons cause crops and livelihood was dependant on it.

Uneducated idiots..
 Quoting: APOLLO ILLUMINIST

Do you have a mental condition that has been left untreated? You just said that atheists are stupid. Do you know what an atheist is? An atheist does not believe in any gods. What you just said is basically what I believe. I believe that the entire story of Jesus in the Bible was based on ASTROLOGY. But I don't believe that Jesus was a literal man. So if I am stupid, what are you?

LOL ! Now thats smart. Yes, its astrological based. Christianity is a Persian, Zoroaster, Mithras, Roman Sun God Religion

And its really cool to pass on the knowledge this way until we have technology.

Both parties need to stop their hate and get together to understand the truth. Both sides need to appreciate eachother.

Woah Woah Woah.

Free speech is free speech.

But a hate crime is a hate crime as well.

Once you leave the discussion table and take action for yourself it is a hate crime.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Atheists have every right to express their views.

But Christmas is universally accepted as a Christian holiday.

You hate Christianity? Well then don't celebrate Christmas.

You are an atheist? Don't put up a nativity scene, I understand free speech but that's a hate crime.

Feel free to talk about it though.

Exactly, we have to be tolerant of everyone and their beliefs. But I am angry sometimes because I live in a world of nothing but Christians. I have Christian parents, kids, relatives, friends, etc. I have no atheist relatives or friends. I do have tolerance for these things. My husband goes to church almost every Sunday. I pretend to pray before we eat. I celebrate Christmas with a pagan Xmas tree and I give and receive gifts because it is a fun thing to do.

But sometimes I DO get angry because I feel discriminated against. Like this thread, what is so wrong about these people displaying their beliefs? Christmas is a pagan holiday. There is absolutely no evidence that the miracle man, Jesus, existed. He is not listed in any school history book. Creationism is not taught at most colleges. No one knows when Jesus was supposedly born, yet the winter solstice is celebrated around December 25th. No one ever thought to record the date that Jesus supposedly resurrected? Come on, we are told that many people witnessed this but not a single person recorded that date. Jesus is a myth. What that atheist nativity displays is truth.

I don't feel that this display is a HATE crime. That is absurd. Atheists (especially in the United States) are a minority. Churches are on every street corner. What the atheist nativity represents is the truth. Christmas REALLY IS a pagan holiday. If you put up a Christmas tree in your house, you are celebrating like the ancient pagans did. The yule log, presents, all that is part of paganism.

If this nativity that the atheists erected is based on truth, how can that possibly be a hate crime? They are using the symbolism of the nativity but Christians use the symbolism of the pagan Christmas tree. It is all mixed up together so calling it a hate crime is wrong. RIGHT?

Yes, but people need to be educated on how to navigate, how to find the North Pole Star, Morning Star Venus, Evening Star, and all the constellations to tell the time and seasons, North, South, East and West. And the Solstices and Equinoxes.

When TSHTF, how will you tell time without clocks , electricity, calendars?

Christians have this knowledge ingrained into them with all the stories, whether they know it or not. They are walking databases of encoded scientific knowledge and how to navigate.

They just have to learn how to work it.

But you can talk about it in a timely adult fashion.

Not put up displays.

Its juvenile, classless and hateful. I don't care if you intend hate or not, it still hurts feeling's and causes more harm then good.

Take Easter, Ishtar the Babylonian Goddess, Decreed that every Easter , ham should be eaten to commemorate her lover Tammuz who was killed and eaten by a wild boar. In Sumeria, the Delphinus constellation was known as the pig or boar which is shining in the East, rising in the pre dawn sky..Tammuz resurrected within the pig.

Ishtar, Innana is also the story of how Venus seems to fall and dip and disappear then rise again preceding the sun as morningstar when she went underground to rescue her lover Tammuz

Using the nativity to display the atheist beliefs is not actually like burning a cross on a black man's lawn. That IS a hate crime. But I don't think of this in the same way.

These people are not terrorizing anyone. They are simply displaying their beliefs. Maybe they should have refrained from using the nativity. I think they could have made their points using something else. But they are rebelling against the nativity scenes that we see everywhere over the holiday season.

Yes, I know all of this. The story of Ishtar is actually very interesting. Her story is very similar to the Christ story. When she went into the underworld, all the plants and animals began to die. So they resurrected her and her husband and sister took her place in the underworld, each one spending half a year down there. It is all based on astrology. Ishtar/Easter...same difference.

 Quoting: APOLLO ILLUMINIST

Yes, I know all of this. The story of Ishtar is actually very interesting. Her story is very similar to the Christ story. When she went into the underworld, all the plants and animals began to die. So they resurrected her and her husband and sister took her place in the underworld, each one spending half a year down there. It is all based on astrology. Ishtar/Easter...same difference.

Therefore these stories should be protected, remembered. If ever TSHTF, the children will be taught these symbols and be able to carry on scientific knowledge of the celestial and seasonal calendar.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28576556

RIGHT?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20657814

I 100% agree. The Christmas Season and all the trimmings are pegan.

But you can talk about it in a timely adult fashion.

Not put up displays.

Its juvenile, classless and hateful. I don't care if you intend hate or not, it still hurts feeling's and causes more harm then good.

Free speech. The right to talk about issues and stay informed not the right to be a douche bag.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28576556

Yes, but Christians try to make the church and state one thing. That is why they still try to put nativity scenes everywhere they can. They display the ten commandments on government property. Could that be a HATE crime against atheists? I think ( by the way you describe this) it could be. But they still do it.

So it may be juvenile, classless and hateful for them to do this, as well. This hurts the atheist's feelings, perhaps, and causes them more harm than good.

Also Cancer, (Manger) is falling to the west right before dawn. Therefore the family (Joseph and Mary bed for the night) and then suddenly the sun rises in the East.

Let the Christians observe their Nativity, Its just the astrological configuration. They should be left alone. All of its symbols and placements of the animals, baby, parents and wise men represent the stars and constellations above.

Re: Atheist group again erects irreverent Nativity scene in Wisconsin Capitol Rotunda
LOL, Atheism is the lack of belief in anything. It's not that we don't believe god exists it's just that we choose to believe nothing and only choose to see the world through the lens of knowledge and science. Don't take offence, there is a difference between atheism and anti-god people. Anti God people are just the atheist equivalent of extremist Muslims and Christians. In other words wankers.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward

FALSE! I am so sick of atheists coming out with that BS. It's word-play designed to deflect discussion.

Atheism is the BELIEF in no-God, the opposite of theism. It is a belief system like any other. How dare you lot claim the monopoly of science, knowledge and reason - what are we all dumb f***s that are incapable of understanding science? I hold a degree in science, I have worked in laboratories, I do amateur astronomy work, I am capable of evaluating logic, I value knowledge above all else. But I am not so up my own as$hole that I think humanity knows (or can even ever know) everything.

Whatever atheists say, they are following a belief, there is no other way of describing it.

You say "it's just that we CHOOSE to BELIEVE nothing.." - yes, a belief. No more provable by science, reason and logic than belief IN the divine.

Any atheist who claims otherwise is bogus and a complete friggin liar.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25145616

Don't tar atheists with your belief-brush.

Being an atheist does NOT automatically make you a follower of science as you're suggesting (and the poster above) it means that you DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD. That's it. Nothing else.
It certainly doesn't mean you believe in no-god. What a ludicrous statement to make. We don't "choose to believe in nothing", how can you believe in nothing? You can't. Again just because you believe in something you can't accept that there are people who don't use belief (not in this scenario anyway). Just because we don't have all the answers (the only people in my experience who pretend to know all of the answers are religious...) we don't fill in the blanks with belief.
Atheist, from the Greek atheos consisting of "a"-without and "theos" god.
The link with atheists and science is fairly recent and it's been more and more inter-twined in the last few years more than likely as a way of debate.
There are plenty of scientists who believe in god, atheists certainly don't have a monopoly on it at all (okay, maybe evolution but that's another can of invertebrates...).
