Anonymous Coward User ID: 7111119 United States 11/27/2012 01:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, so this morning at about 6:00 AM I filled my kitchen sink with hot water to wash some stuff up, I left the water in the sink before going to bed (had been up all night). I had roughly 6 hours sleep and had been awake for 2 hours before going down to the kitchen to make my self a drink. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26706103 Now the strange part, when I placed my hand into the water in the sink to remove the plug to empty it, I noticed that the water was still very warm Some things to note. The kitchen and the whole downstairs is not heated, I heat only my bedroom to save money, so the temperature downstairs is way below 15 degrees Celsius. The water had been sitting in a thin metal sink exposed to very cold air for around 8 hours, and the water was not very hot to start with, about 40 degrees celsius. No one else lives here, just myself and I had not been down stairs in that room for over 7 hours. I thought to myself, THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! That water should have been stone cold like everything else in the kitchen... You stumbled upon super insulation? |

Interesting theory though .....strange indeed! :) |

Firstly...PINNED? Really? Second, forgive me if this is just ignorance; but, a PLASTIC kettle? Wouldn't that melt on the stove? Thirdly, you said it was really cold. Could your body temperature just have been low enough that the comparitively warm water to the ambient temperature in the room seemed warmer than it actually was? Kind if the reverse of how you don't give ice cold water to a person suffering from heat stroke/exhaustion, or pour very hot water on frost bite...? Also, before going to sleep I had boiled the kettle to make my self a hot drink of chocolate because it was fucking cold last night. The water in the kettle quite obviously was cold and this is a plastic well insulated kettle, and the sink is made of stainless steal a conductor of heat, it should therefore dissipate the heat away from the water and into the surrounding around under the sink where its very cold. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26706103 This just does not make any sense, this has never happened before... UK people still use kettles? Do you have microwaves? Much faster ..... I have infact I think most of us have both. I like using a kettle for my Tea and Coffee. |
