| Anonymous Coward User ID: 14621606 11/27/2012 11:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | its the SONG not the proficiency with chords and speed, or...all musicians worship good songwritiing, Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5913880 This "best guitarist" thing is so ridiculuous anyone who adds to the argument in such a way has no clue....its a feeling not some aural masturbation Proficiency is important. It doesn't mean that you have to bust out every technical trick in every song, but you know you can. There is nothing wrong mastering your instrument. But you are right - playing with feel is the most important. I'm just not into the guy who can only play 3 chords going "but at least I play with feel..." and using it as a cop-out because he never learned to play with any proficiency. Or the cat who says "guitar solos are overrated" because he can't actually play one. |

Most guitar players here, yeah they are good and all, but they are stuffed with effects boards running easy scales, and so forth. Hey David Gilmour he's superb as well doing the same kind of thing. The guy on the twelve string is really playing drones on his alternate turning, with a few fast scales and percussion on the guitar itself. That's very clever. Hey but who's the best anyway? The one that pleases you the most is it. For me passion with the instrument floats the boat. Andy Aledort from Guitar magazine has transcribed thousands of songs and knows every nuance of them. He is a remarkable player in his own right as well. He has taught more players than anyone in the world. |

But wow, are they ever impressive. One writes tablature for music by ear. I've always loved some serious electric guitar - I wish a lot of music would just ditch the words and let me enjoy the instrumentals alone. Geo777 |
