Here's a video of Joe Satriana, Steve Vai and Yngwe Malmsteen in concert together.
They each do a set and then get together at the end to wank each other off.
The timing and musical capacity to get 3 people soloing at the same time, without stepping on each others dicks is phenomenal.

You have you standards for a certain sound and I can say of some of the best you can't pick one over the other, some have speed, some extreme dexterity, some a complete inner feeling of music despite the genre.

from a to z of the great guitarists of our time I wouldn't pit them in a competition sometimes I want to list to intricate sometimes more basic. it really depends on your mood and the music you want to hear, I won't say any guitarist is better than another but I do prefer a certain type of intricacy Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, Morse, Clapton, Blackmore, Beck, Page, Lynch, and alot of hairband guitarists. And some native to my home like Cindarella and othe local NJ bands. I even like flamenco like Carlos Montoya, and alot of people forget Santana. I mean shit their is a guitarist for everyone, but if you like guitar you don'y have one hero, they are all heroes, and I forgot probably the most important one.....Hendrix

There is no one greatest, but this lack is severely lacking in Criss Oliva and Al Di Meola. Glad to see Richie Blackmore getting some recognition though.

I saw Clapton on a recent tour 4 times where he had himself, Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II on stage taking turns with guitar solos. While he is good, he was in third place in that trio. Trucks and Clapton were definitely outclassing him.

Les and Geddy Lee. Bassist extrodanaire! There's also a woman I cannot recall her name, that's off the charts with the 4 string.
