I don't know about anyone else, but we've had to buy several large ticket items this fall. They were old and just worn out. We really didn't want to buy a new washing machine, but there isn't a good repairman here anymore.

We don't go shopping on Black Friday, but we had to this year. Youngest son had to get a new backpack before he went back to school. The zipper broke on the way home. There weren't ANY crowds at our mall. The mall wasn't busy last year during December, either.

I wonder how many people are like us. Stuff is just worn out and can't be repaired anymore.

My life/economic situation has been increasing for the past 5 years. All though it has nothing to do with who was elected, and more to do with my own drive.

And raise ya one! Thanksgiving night Me, My Daughter, Mom, two of my sisters, their adult kids and My Brother in law all drove to the Jefferson Outlet Mall for Black Friday( well thurs) deals. While traffic was backed up a few miles at all entrances and they had police escorting and assigning parking, Me and My Daughter who drove up together looked at each other and said.... wow...only 20 min to get. Parking spot??? They arent that busy this year. This is a HUUUUUGE OUTLET MALL (100 + stores) anyway we all got separated doing our own thing and I ran into a Sheriff & asked him where the Ralph Lauren store was... we got to talking ( for like 45 min) and he told me they count all the cars coming in. He said this year there was ONLY 4122 cars that came- this was at like 2:15 am. I told him my daughter & I noticed not that many ppl out walking around. We didnt have to push our way thru anywhere, the longest line was a 15- 20 min wait. This is a mall that 3 yrs ago ppl where hopping the fence & running crom cops to get in!!! He said 3 yrs ago there total was over 8700 --- SO ONCE AGAIN THEY R LYING ABOUT THE NUMBERS!!! We REALLY need to start wearing wading boots....THE CRAP IS JUST TOO DEEP. THEY TREAT THE PUBLIC LIKE A BUNCH OF MUSHROOMS---- KEEP THEM IN THE DARK AND FEED EM BULLSHIT CONSTANTLY!!

Everybody I know is sitting on what little $ they have. No purchasing any thing that is not NEEDED. Luxuries, nice to haves, restaurant trips, etc. are not happening

Its total bullshit. I am in sales and i have 3 companies and it seems as though in the last 2-3 months someone has shut off the faucet. We did really good this year for sale but Ive never seen it this slow.

The deals aren't there this year either. Cyber Monday also sucked. 10% off, not 25% or free shipping and no discount, not both like I'm used to. Granted, my sample is sewing and sporting stuff but sewing crap is always good the weekend after Thanksgiving. Even $1000 sewing machines were $600, not $400 like usual. These are pretty standard sales every year, online and in stores.

They are looking at the amount they made for the weekend. With less deals, prices not being steeply discounted, etc., sure it looks like it's improving. But the test is volume, which amounts to shoppers in the store, and that is way down.

It's a lie of omission. They are omitting the fact that you're not saving like you have in years past and they are omitting the fact that people didn't shop like before.

Well one must assume that most of the Obama supporting
"useful idiots" out there only watch a little mainstream media, or they were just listening to Obama tell them how good the recovery is...

Won't they be shocked when it all comes crashing down...
