I guess, even if she were to buy two seats, she couldn't have fit the lap belt over her. If they had hit turbulence and she were thrown around, imagine the injury to others with 425 pounds slamming into you? I feel sorry for her, but I see the airline POV for safety reasons.

Still, there do have to be limits on things and while that is horrible to have to do to anyone, there are other ways to travel. (Boat in this case. No one thinks about that one anymore however...)

I don't want to punish people for being fat, or ridicule them. It's simply that physical properties, such as the floors of aircraft are designed for specific weights.

They start to have strain problems with anyone over a certain weight or concentration of foot fall. (Women with high heels are actually the worst obstacle. The concentration of forces is so great that the floors have to be an extra eights of an inch thick just for that.)

It's horrible to have to tell someone that they aren't allowed to travel due to things like that, but unless everyone else in the world is going to be expected to pay a lot more per trip to accommodate them, it has to be done.

If they were going to refuse her, it should have been when she left America. It's not right to strand someone away from home.

Well, there is no common sense in this case. The woman was going to die due to obesity. It is not the airlines fault. It is her fault and she was absolutely disgusting.

She shouldn't have travelled at all. 450 lbs needs to be in a king size bed; and he should not have taken her anywhere. She was a hazard to everyone on the plane.

I can't imagine the horrible comments made by other passengers that she had to endure during this whole ordeal.

Most people of that size wouldn't even attempt to travel overseas. Maybe she wanted to see her homeland once again before she died; maybe an elderly relative totally unable to travel was so dear to her she took the trip.

That's really too bad, but they call it morbid obesity for a reason. No way in hell should anyone be held responsible for her death. Maybe someone should charge her husband for allowing it to continue!

She certainly could not have sit in an emergency exit row, so that means she could render the aircraft a death trap if there was an emergency evacuation & she blocked exit for other people.

I am sorry this happened to her, but I would not want to get trapped in a burning aircraft because another passenger was a human barrier.

What if she had to take a piss or shit on that plane? That is a long trip if I'm not mistaken... Can you imagine that fatty walking sideways down the isle with her fupa hitting someone's face while her smelly ass crack that never gets wiped properly or bathed hits the passenger on the opposite side...

Maybe, she should have considered others than her own selfish desires.

But they flew her out there and then decided they ould not fly her back, that is the real issue, as I see it.

They might have a good case if she was unable to obtain insulin for her diabetes due to being away from any place to refill her prescription. They should have contacted the American Embassy for help. Was any healthcare available to them in Hungary?????? This is where the American Embassy could have stepped in.

Not to mention getting wedged in the tiny little crapper.
And needing the jaws-of-life to get out.

I agree she should not have traveled to begin with, but once they flew her over, they should have allowed her to fly back, period.
