I heard the exact same thing (am in Central FL) about a month ago. The warning tones, and then a scroll over a BLACK SCREEN telling me it was for Los Angeles County (CA).

Several ppl said they got the same thing (DirecTV) that day.

I am in N San Diego County and just felt an earthwuakle

Las Vegas, Nevada here...was just sitting with my son watching Go Diego Go when an EBS Alert pops up on TV for a weekly test...it seems like a pretty normal event to me. I'm not normally at home during the day so I cant comment on how frequent these are, but the wife is sick so I'm here. It does seem a bit odd with all the other places around the US seeing EBS alerts.

For what its worth...Forecast for Souther NV for next 15 days is pretty nice with some clouds...
