Anonymous Coward User ID: 815535 United States 11/27/2012 06:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is bizarre. A friend of mine who runs a record label tells me that iTunes are not processing any music for release after December 20th this year. Apparently the reason they give is that the company is closing over Christmas, however he tells me this restriction has not happened before. Why would such a large company close down for such a long period over Christmas? He says the restriction applies between December 21st to January 2013 inclusive....so basically artists and labels cannot release any music this year after the date of December 20th. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27479838 Always the friend... right... BS! |

It will probably be another month or so before I am finished, but that would put a major cramp on do-it-yourself artists like me. "Heresy is only another word for freedom of thought." “I’ll tell you what bravery really is. Bravery is just the determination to do a job that you know has to be done.” "You must be shapeless, formless, like water." "Let each man hear his own music and live by it. The drums roll one way for one man, I guess, and another way for another. You have to listen to your own." |

OP has already said that this hasn't happened before. Thursday 20th thru to Monday 24th are likely to be the busiest shopping days of the year in the run up to Christmas, not to mention people buying redeemable gift cards in the sales after Christmas with money received as a Christmas gift. OP is right, this is bizarre. |

the8track User ID: 28607209 United States 11/27/2012 07:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I sell music on iTunes and confirm this to be true. Essentially, iTunes is not allowing anyone to submit music to be uploaded into their system during those dates; however, it is still publishing music that was set to go live during that period but submitted before the deadline. iTunes takes about 72 hours to process and upload material into their system. So, if you submitted something on December 19th, it would still post up on December 22, but if you submitted something on December 23, it would not post up until January. |
