Sorry OP but i'm calling BS on this one, the Venetic theory is a universally rejected historical anachronistic fail. Took the time to read about it some years ago tbh and it's not strange at all that it's universally rejected by all scholars and archaeologists and is accepted only by some Slavs, goes as far as saying that the Greek and Roman alphabet/language/civilizations and pretty much the whole European ones came from the Slavs.

look, this is not a thread about history. i only tell you what here people believe. some poeple of course also prefer to believe official scholars and we have some such poeple here as well. but for discovering the truth, official 'truths' are to be taken with a grain of salt, specially when history is in question.
so let's stick by facts and leave the interpretation to all individuals.

I know it's a bit OT, just wanted to set the record straight, no need to post more things about it like the facts you did coz i gave this a serious read back then when i learned about this theory (wouldn't challenge you otherwise) and it's complete nonfactual BS promoted for propagandist reasons mostly in Slovenia during the 80's, i agree about the official and unofficial history but the Venetic theory is not supported even by truthseekers and non-mainstream archaeologists and historians all around the world except from some Slav ones, no one else, nothing truth-seeking about it, just a Slavic nonfactual propagandist fairytale.

well, being Greek, it is possible you are being offended, for our pointing out, that the world did not begin with Paris and Helen ;)
we acutally have many similarities with the greeks, and also historical contact although only after the contacts with the phoenicians were broken.

even in the official interpretation of history, nobody can deny, that our customs and traditions are preroman and that they are native to the country. we have a dionisiac divinity for instance, there are name relations like sybile - sembila, kuretes - kurenti, delphi - devin, silvan - silen, semela - zemla, and also word relation, like mogila - gomila etc.
traditions can vary here a lot from valley to valley, just like in ancient greece. in some parts the music is ionic, in some parts doric, in some eolic, in some frigian, in some pentatonic...
even the official historians admit, there had to be a certain continuation, for we have no traditions of some other homeland. our legends speak of the God Kurent (dyonisus) saved us after the deluge with a vine at the northern adriatic beach...

Not offended my mate, just having a chat coz i'm fascinated and read a lot about archaeology since very young age, one of my favorite hobbies. History didn't start with Paris off course but most certainly didn't start with the Slavs as you seem to believe.

Slovens don't speak the most ancient language in Europe, that's a fact and the Veneti theory is based on thin air with no archaeological basis or findings whatsoever bar legends and guesses and words look or sound the same with the neighboring civilizations, it's like Greece claiming Atlantis civilization coz it's a Greek name, but we don't have something concrete to prove this now do we? That's what we have with the venetic theory, it's very sloppy work that claims that the whole Europe, modern Russia and the Middle East back then were speaking Slavic, it's an utter propagandist fail, no connection, no consistency, no findings, nothing, just guesses and plenty of brainstorming, but this is not how archaeology works for sure and fortunately.

It was promoted mostly in Slovenia during the 80's to challenge both the Slavic 6th century theory and the national consciousness of the people back then, an attempt to differ themselves from the rest of the Yugoslavian Slavs being so close to Italy and the influence that the Latin civilization which was heavily Hellenized after a point with all the pagan rituals, had in the region, that's why it was not followed by anyone around the world, it was mostly a propagandist tool and i was actually surprised hearing you mention it, it has been proven to be fail for 2 decades now.

The fact that some words of yours look or sound like Greek ones doesn't mean something imo, we've all being living in this region for ages and the Hellenization process back then was huge to say the least (i consider it to be the NWO of the time). Even modern English uses 20 thousand Greek words, 5 thousand of them used frequently/daily, all other Balkan neighboring languages and civilizations would have been influenced after so many years, it's inevitable.
