Jebus never warned anyone about an afterlife of torture. . .He warned the folks standing right in front of Him (especially the Pharisees) about a landfill called Gehenna. Forty years later, some of them ended up there, denied an honorable burial by the Roman armies who did God's dirty work on that particular occasion.

stop with your watered down twisting of scripture with your own human interpretation based on your own fear of hell and not wanting of there to be a hell. there is an eternal place of torment called the lake of fire all the unsaved will go to after death...PERIOD.

Guy, I'm not afraid of your precious Torture Chamber - I wouldn't be going there anyhow, because Jesus is my Savior.

We have to learn the symbolism. Here's your scary fire:

"Our God is a consuming fire" - Hebrews 12 (an echo of Deuteronomy 4:24)

"Is not My word like fire?" - Jeremiah 23

He makes "His ministers a flame of fire" - Hebrews 1 (also Psalm 104)

fiery trials = sharing in the sufferings of Christ - 1 Peter 4

Israel's captivity in Egypt = "an iron furnace" - Deuteronomy 4:20

A "fiery law" proceeded from God's right hand - Deuteronomy 33

God apparently set Israel "on fire", and they didn't even realize it - Isaiah 42

Note that per Revelation 14, those cast into this "lake" are "in the presence of the Lamb". He Himself is likely the fire that purifies.

The only thing that it burns up is the old, corrupt nature and its debris. . .

Fire will expose and test each person's works. . ."if it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames" - 1 Corinthians 3

"By mercy and truth iniquity is purged". . .Proverbs 16

"The wicked will see it and be vexed, He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The *desire* of the wicked will perish" - Psalm 112

The glory of the LORD seemed like a consuming fire to the children of Israel - Exodus 24

It was by fire that He revealed His Law to them. Moses went right up to it, but the masses were afraid. . .
"For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God anymore, then we shall die" - Deuteronomy 5

Fire was equated with hearing His voice

The process of "fire" leaves us in ashes. . .a scriptural symbol of humility.

All through the Laws of Moses, fire is what made the offerings acceptable and pleasing to God.

After Israel defeated an enemy, all the gold, silver, brass, iron, tin and lead were to be purified by fire. . .
Paraphrased, "Everything that can withstand fire must go through fire, by which it shall be made clean. Any other materials which *cannot* withstand fire must be purified by water." - Numbers 31

the bible is full of both literal and metaphorical teachings. through discernment we find which is literal nd which is metaphorical. guess what? Hell Fire is literal, it is literal fire that will never be quenched. weeping and gnashing of teeth. the only reason you even sought out to try and disprove and turn it all into metaphor is because of your own FEAR

Jesus said:

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matt.10:28

You are assuming it's instantaneous destruction at the point of death... it's not; that's why we're suppose to fear...

God knows how long the punishment will be for each individual that rejects love and life in his son, before the body and soul are destroyed.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8788578

Then he gave a story of 2 real people who are real debtors just like in the parable. He forgave both Simon and the harlot... the harlot loved him more because she was forgiven more sins.

Both had DEMONSTRATED FAITH WHILE THEY WERE ALIVE THAT SAVED THEM.

"And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace."

Lol - yes, the blasphemy is that I deliberately goofed His alleged name, not that you and every churchbot from here to Laodicea is convinced He's going to save only 2% of mankind and cook the rest ;)

For the record, He wasn't called "Jesus" until centuries after He waked the earth. The letter 'J' wasn't invented until something like the 14th century.

Lighten up, people. The Son of Man has come to save men's lives, not destroy them.

The Son of Man has come to save men's lives, not destroy them.

Lighten up??? You're denying the very place Jesus came to save us from and warned about!

Of course he came to seek and save the lost. He's given mankind over 2,000 yrs to seek him and he's coming a 2nd time to gather those who've sought him and take us to heaven.

He's also coming to judge those who've rejected and desire to live in sin.

Just listen to the first 4 min... guy gets right to the point... worth a listen.

5*/PIN suggestion

Has glp ever pinned a Hell-Fire Video?

Now's a good time.

This is a sermon Jesus preached in Matthew 5:22.
 Quoting: Morganite

Jebus never warned anyone about an afterlife of torture. . .He warned the folks standing right in front of Him (especially the Pharisees) about a landfill called Gehenna. Forty years later, some of them ended up there, denied an honorable burial by the Roman armies who did God's dirty work on that particular occasion.

...

Revelation 20:10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

stop with your watered down twisting of scripture with your own human interpretation based on your own fear of hell and not wanting of there to be a hell. there is an eternal place of torment called the lake of fire all the unsaved will go to after death...PERIOD.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

Any other materials which *cannot* withstand fire must be purified by water." - Numbers 31

and you call Jesus Christ "jebus" and then go on to say hes your savior? you are a blaspheming liar that twists scripture to your own fleshly desires. you insult the name of Christ then proclaim him as your savior? you are very confused and fearful. you say Jesus is your savior....what is it then that youre being saved from? Christ died to save the world from HELL. for the wages of sin is death, and is appointed for men once to die then the judgement.
Revelation 20:10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
prepared for the devil and his angels tormented day and night forever and ever. what about that dont you understand? you have no understanding and by the way you insult Christs name then say hes your savior is very telling of your confusion
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

Lol - yes, the blasphemy is that I deliberately goofed His alleged name, not that you and every churchbot from here to Laodicea is convinced He's going to save only 2% of mankind and cook the rest ;)

For the record, He wasn't called "Jesus" until centuries after He waked the earth. The letter 'J' wasn't invented until something like the 14th century.

Lighten up, people. The Son of Man has come to save men's lives, not destroy them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8788578

churchbot? i dont attend a temple made with the hands of men sorry.

and Christs own words are contrary to YOUR claims:

Mathew 7:13-14 ""Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."

most in this world are going to hell.

and yes im aware his real name in hebrew is Yeshua Hamashiach but everyone in the world including Christ knows who theyre talking about when they say Jesus Christ, our lord and savior and the atheists and God haters always use that term jebus, it is blasphemous.

Consider scripture's own definition of "destruction":
Deuteronomy 4 warns the Israelites that they'll be destroyed (also apollymi in the Septuagint) when they adopt the ways of the heathen and serve idols. This "destruction" of the children of Israel is defined there as being scattered among the nations to serve more idols, and includes the provision that when they finally seek God, they'll find Him, because God is merciful and will not(?) destroy them. We can see here that "destruction" is not absolutely an annihilation in which persons cease to exist, yes? In this case, it's referring to earthly difficulties. People use the term "destroy" in the same exact allegorical manner today, usually when talking about merely defeating someone or "putting them in their place". Nevertheless, we've been brainwashed via Religion's fossilized mindset that "destruction" unquestionably equals the disastrous and eternal ruin of one's soul with no remedy or recourse whatsoever.
