The Son of Man has come to save men's lives, not destroy them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8788578

Lighten up??? You're denying the very place Jesus came to save us from and warned about!

Of course he came to seek and save the lost. He's given mankind over 2,000 yrs to seek him and he's coming a 2nd time to gather those who've sought him and take us to heaven.

He's also coming to judge those who've rejected and desire to live in sin.
 Quoting: Morganite

No, I'm denying the place carnal religious men concocted to scare peasants into obeying their ambitious whims.

Q: When every knee bows and every tongue confesses Him, what do you suppose happens to the folks those body parts belong to?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8788578

so first you say all the hell verses in the bible are all metaphorical and now youre saying they put the doctrine of hell in there to scare peasants into obeying them? which is it? you dont even know what you believe. and youre just cherry picking the stuff your flesh desires and sees fit from the bible.

It's both. God uses fire to purify. He's a Refiner - that's what He does. The early christian fathers of the first couple of centuries widely believed in the eventual redemption of everyone. That view suddenly became heresy when Rome took over and paganized everything. The cleansing fire of God was magically transformed into a literal lava pit into which the disobedient were cast to undergo endless agony.

I believed in this shit for 2 decades, like a good clone. Oddly, once I began to recognize my rancid hypocrisy and pride, and started to learn true repentance, God dropped the truth into my lap. It didn't take root overnight, as I was plenty skeptical at first, but in time, the blinders came off. You'll find life is remarkably different when you no longer believe that God dangles us over a gaping abyss waiting to devour our souls.

Everyone who comes in front of Judge Jesus will bow.

No, not get saved, then bow.

If their name isn't in the book of life they'll be judged according to their works and then their home in hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away: and there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev.20:11-15

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev.20:10

Hummmmm.....Ya think this is why Jesus gave his life to save us from this PLACE... ABSOLUTELY, OF COURSE, NO QUESTION ABOUT IT... he sure didn't die to save us from mere non-existence!

As for the lake of fire, those folks are gonna be fine. The reason is that the ones who'll be in charge have been though fire before, and know how to govern with the heart of Christ. The Meek will inherit the earth, not the hyped-up go-getters running around judging everyone.

you just said Gods word has been changed, altered and the current bible is not Gods pure word. you just admitted that. youve fallen into the trap of believing what you want to believe not what Gods preserved word says:

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (Psalms 12:6-7)

Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
(Deuteronomy 4:1-2)

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6)

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. (Jesus Christ, Son of God) (Mark 13:31)

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:18-19)

you think God dangles us over an abyss waiting to devour our souls? no wonder you sought to disprove Hell, youre view of Gods nature is/was obviously warped. God isnt dangling us over a pit, we have a choice to make and he sent his only begotten son to die for the world because he cares that much for humanity so that we would be saved. hes not dangling us over a furnace like some maniac like you thought. and thats interesting b/c God revealed to me the reality of Hell. you dont know my story, my parents never spoke of religion or spiritaulity at all to me and i looked into every religion every belief and i know Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life and there is a Hell. im telling you, you had a warped view of Hell based off false assumptions and fear and instead of accepting biblical truth you reverted and sought to disprove it, the path many choose to take and its the wrong one

and weve already established the lake of fire goes on for all eternity where the devil and his angles will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

A: It's not a fire insurance thing for me and I agree with you that it is for most.

They're only fooling themselves though, because a changed life is necessary proof of true conversion.

That's why were suppose to examine ourselves to see if we're genuinely saved... examine our fruit.

I agree, the meek will inherit the earth.

Jesus is, as I yeild to him each day, making me more like him in meekness, patience, love , joy ,peace, self-control as I'm sure he's doing in you too, if you're truely saved.

But no, those folks, Jesus doesn't call them folks, they certainly won't be fine according to Jesus Revelation to John.

Yes. Absolutely. Scripture was originally issued in Hebrew & Greek, and you, me and everyone else in this 21st century who doesn't read Hebrew or Greek are fully dependent on the words which the hired translators put in God's mouth ages ago.
There are, like, 100 different English bible versions - you're aware that many of them differ significantly, right? Or do you assert that somehow they're all accurately pristine?

Ultimately God's Word is a Person.

omg. It's the *abyss* allegedly wanting to consume us, not God. Either way, it's all bullshit. You guys don't have any Good News for anyone - just a grim ultimatum to suck up to the God of Failure, whom you call Savior but who really *can't* save like He intended because His whole plan apparently hinges on blind defective specks making the right choice. If your plastic idol could really save people, you wouldn't have to goad people to make it happen.

Christianity is essentially a multitude of undiagnosed OCD sufferers warning everyone to stay in the shallow end because you can't see the bottom in the deep end.

2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

the fact is im born again and completely different from before i was saved. i walk in spirit and am in the world not of it. im a new creature in Christ. God has given me great understanding and compassion too even though you cant see it becasue youre blinded by the cut and dry truth i preach that sounds bad and harsh to a worldly mind so to you and worldly minds i sound mean and without compassion but God knows my heart. i preach it to warn people of its reality because i dont want anyone to go there.

Interesting that "Forever and ever" has days an nights ;)

The original Greek word they've mutilated is aion and its adjective form aionian & aionios. It merely means "for an undisclosed period of time". The corresponding Hebrew term is olam. This word occurs in Job 2 where the KJV says he was in hell "for ever". Then somehow a couple days later, he was in Ninevah doing what God had called him to do from the outset. Not a very long forever, was it?

I John 4:15-18
"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."

Mathew 25:46 "And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28525317

aoinios kolasis and zoe aionios, or "punishment age-long" and "life age-long" respectively.

Ultimately, though, God will be "All in all", per 1 Corinthians 15.

Daniel 2 talks about a Stone, cut without hands, that grinds Nebuchadnezzar's statue to dust, and then grows until it fills the earth. This Stone is Christ and His kingdom.

Habakkuk 2 tells us that eventually, "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea".

Isaiah 26 tells that when God's judgments are in the earth, its inhabitants will learn righteousness.

Psalm 2 talks about being granted the heathen as an inheritance, and the ends of the earth as a possession.

In Revelation 22, the leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the peoples (Greek = ethnos).

David tells the Father in Psalm 65 "Unto thee shall all flesh come".

In Revelation, we're told that the gates of New Jerusalem never close. Isaiah 60 elaborates upon this, saying in verse 11 that they remain open so that the kings and armies of the nations may be brought within (also, see verse 5).

These things all describe what Ephesians calls "the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus" to become evident in the coming ages.

Re: Anyone in the mood for some good ole fashioned HELL FIRE and brimstone preaching? this one takes the cake
so first you say all the hell verses in the bible are all metaphorical and now youre saying they put the doctrine of hell in there to scare peasants into obeying them? which is it?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

These things all describe what Ephesians calls "the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus" to become evident in the coming ages.

you always seem to have an answer for everything even though your answers are complete nonsense. mathew 25:46 is Jesus speaking directly of the afterlife of either everlasting punishment or everlasting life. so youre using this age-long nonsese argument to disprove everlasting punishment or an eternal hell? so then the everlasting life part according to you must be wrong too. so then John 3:16 "“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." and 1 John 5:11-13 "And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life." and Romans 2:6-8 "He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury." and John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." these must all be wrong too not referencing the afterlife at all right?

so you must not believe in an eternal heaven or eternal life then if eternal punishment is just a mistranslation and doesnt exist right? all too common, people are quick to accept an eternal heaven but reject an eternal hell because to them its too harsh. once again, you let your fleshly desires cherry pick your doctrine. you are lost

Pertains to the "age" in question, the Messianic age, or the "Millennium". It's only temporary, because eventually God will become all in all and there won't be anymore distinctions such as "saved" or "lost". What that means in a nuts & bolts sense, I don't yet know.

you are lost
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

Lol - I rest my case. I plainly stated that Jesus is my Savior, but you still deem me lost because I don't believe in your scary religious bullshit.

This verse already states, that God is in you all. It doesn't state that God will be in you all. Since, it already states this, that God is in you all, it still speaks of an eternal life as a reward.

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Also, here's a meaning for aionios, is not the same as aion, here's the meaning:

without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be
without beginning
without end, never to cease, everlasting

That's a bit of a problem for Titus, whose second verse mentions the gift of "eternal life" which God promised "before the world began", with "world" there being the word they translated aionios into. Paul is talking about what God promised before the aionios began. Sounds kind of like it has a beginning after all, yes?

This is a prime example of the kind of convoluted illogic they've weaved into the book.
