Re: Anyone in the mood for some good ole fashioned HELL FIRE and brimstone preaching? this one takes the cake
you always seem to have an answer for everything
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

Yes - I've been studying this for 5 years now.

mathew 25:46 is Jesus speaking directly of the afterlife of either everlasting punishment or everlasting life. so youre using this age-long nonsese argument to disprove everlasting punishment or an eternal hell? so then the everlasting life part according to you must be wrong too. so then John 3:16 "“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." and 1 John 5:11-13 "And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life." and Romans 2:6-8 "He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury." and John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." these must all be wrong too not referencing the afterlife at all right?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

Pertains to the "age" in question, the Messianic age, or the "Millennium". It's only temporary, because eventually God will become all in all and there won't be anymore distinctions such as "saved" or "lost". What that means in a nuts & bolts sense, I don't yet know.

you are lost
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1880593

Lol - I rest my case. I plainly stated that Jesus is my Savior, but you still deem me lost because I don't believe in your scary religious bullshit.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8788578

you missed the part where i said all your answers are complete nonsense.

you are lost in at the very least about there being a hell, maybe youre saved maybe not but the things you say demonstrate youre not. remember not everyone that says "lord lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven. so just saying Jesus is your lord doesnt mean youre necessarily saved. youre decieving many with your false doctrine making people think sin is a trivial matter since theyll eventually be cleansed of it and make it to heaven anyway. you are doing a great disservice to Gods kingdom and causing God knows how many to go to hell that have embraced your lies

Also, here's a meaning for aionios, is not the same as aion, here's the meaning:

without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be
without beginning
without end, never to cease, everlasting
[link to www.biblestudytools.com]

That's a bit of a problem for Titus, whose second verse mentions the gift of "eternal life" which God promised "before the world began", with "world" there being the word they translated aionios into. Paul is talking about what God promised before the aionios began. Sounds kind of like it has a beginning after all, yes?

This is a prime example of the kind of convoluted illogic they've weaved into the book.

Yes, you're right, it does sound like it has a beginning.

But, aionios, has 3 definitions, one is
without end, never to cease, everlasting
It states without end. Which means, something can have a beginning, but also then, be without end.

If you're going to refute their claims, be willing to back up your argument with highly credible sources, than merely making claims, with zero evidence, and zero credentials.

It doesn't take much homework to recognize it - another good example is the term basanizo. In Revelation 14:10, they've translated it "torment" in relation to those in the lake of fire. But it also appears a couple times in the gospels, where they translated it "toiling" and "tossed" in relation to the disciples rowing against the storm on the sea of Galilee. Would you agree that the term torment carries a heavier sense of doom in contrast to toil and tossing? They've made it into apples and oranges.

This article might be a good starting point. . .at worst, you'll be able to see through its foolish deception and refute it, yes? ;)

1) Let's look at all the meanings of basanizo:

-to test (metals) by the touchstone, which is a black siliceous stone used to test the purity of gold or silver by the colour of the streak produced on it by rubbing it with either metal
-to question by applying torture
-to torture
-to vex with grievous pains (of body or mind), to torment
-to be harassed, distressed
of those who at sea are struggling with a head wind

2) Let's look at the context of the verse, and figure out which meaning makes the most sense.

If I'm in a lake of fire, than yes, torment makes sense.

If I'm in a boat in a sea, than yes, the tossing and toiling meaning, makes sense.

My point is that they simply filled their concordance with their warped biblical usages of term in question, which is backwards. With a standard meaning for basanizo, logic would dictate the lake of fire functioning as a refinery, but they couldn't conceive such a preposterous thing, so they pasted "torment" in there. It's like how the the noun aion magically means "world", "age" and "forever" - each use conveniently determined by what they *thought* God meant.

Regarding the 'All in all' and that verse, here's a couple of other translations, and a commentary:

NLT: Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God's authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.

GWL: But when God puts everything under Christ's authority, the Son will put himself under God's authority, since God had put everything under the Son's authority. Then God will be in control of everything.

And here's a commentary,

That God may be all in all - That God may be supreme; that the Divinity, the Godhead, may rule; and that it may be seen that he is the Sovereign over all the universe.

Lots of crap has been posted in this thread.

OP If you're not afraid of a little challenge, and have some time to kill, I encourage you to browse some of the videos on this channel and open yourself up to some interpretations of the bible that you might not have arrived at on your own accord or heard from a priest/preacher/minister in the church:

If it was refinery, there would be indication, that once thrown in the lake of fire, the people would be purified, and then taken out to be reunited with God in heaven. There's no indication of this.

You also realize, in all parables, Jesus never used any specific names.

But, when he talks about the richman, he specifically names Lazarus and Abraham. This is evidence, that this isn't merely a parable.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28525317

This too is a widespread misconception. God's business is here on earth. Heaven is merely a temporary side effect.

If it was refinery, there would be indication
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28525317

It's indicated the symbolic use of fire throughout the previous 65 books of the bible, according to my earlier citations.

But, when he talks about the richman, he specifically names Lazarus and Abraham. This is evidence, that this isn't merely a parable.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28525317

Nah, it's a parable. Matthew 13 and Mark 4 both tell us that Jesus didn't teach without parables.

If this were a literal account of afterlife, the most obvious question is why is the Rich Man having a conversation instead of screaming uncontrollably? He's on fire. Secondly, why does he request a mere fingertip of water? And for his tongue? If his tongue is the first thing he wants extinguished, how is he even speaking? How does he even have a tongue? If he's dead, his inanimate body is lying motionless in some kind of grave.

What were his sins? Jesus never tells us, so it doesn't make for a very legitimate warning. He merely says the guy was well-dressed and well-fed, criteria which actually apply to most American christians.

Our rich guy here is Judah, with five brothers. The whole chapter is about stewardship - the accountability of the priesthood for what they did with what they were given. They failed severely, setting themselves up a nice little racket instead of blessing the people.

Meanwhile, some say that the Lazarus of the story is actually a reference to Abraham's steward Eliezar, who faithfully worked himself out of Abe's inheritance by obtaining a bride for Isaac. He chose obedience to his master over personal gain - a major contrast with the Pharisees.

But, if it were somehow the same Lazarus who Jesus raised from the dead, why does the story show him as a beggar? His sister was apparently rich. . .she's the one who anointed Jesus with the ointment that cost something like a year's wages. Was she holding out on him? And their sister Martha owned a home, where she hosted Jesus at least once.

Re: Anyone in the mood for some good ole fashioned HELL FIRE and brimstone preaching? this one takes the cake
Sorry no indication, that the people, including Satan who also gets thrown in the lake of fire, will eventually come out:

Revelation 20: 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Where does it state and imply, that they eventually get out, or even become purified, and then get out?

taken out to be reunited with God in heaven.

This too is a widespread misconception. God's business is here on earth. Heaven is merely a temporary side effect.

If it was refinery, there would be indication

You are clearly a fraud and not a very good one at that. Your attempts to distort scripture are laughable and only make you seem unintelligent. Thank you for enhancing my faith with your vain transparent attempts to confuse the flock. Just like the Bible warned.

applause

That's hardcore ;)
But, I know the drill - you have Abraham as your Father, etc.

If your Jesus can't save people, just tell them.

Go back and look into my earlier posts - the ones that are almost entirely scripture citations. Consider the not-insignificant fact that God is Love and Love never fails.
I understand what it's like to be into the swamp so deep that it all sounds too good to be true.

So you're telling me, there's a verse, that states, that Satan will eventually become purified, and become a good angel again?

None of your earlier posts refer to any citation that indicates the condemned will get out.

It's a very simple request. Can you point to a single line of scripture that indicates hell is a temporary place?

I already looked at your previous posts and could not find anything. Just one line of scripture to prove that hell is temporary- that is all I'm asking. Is there a single line in the whole Bible you can point to?

Looked at your earlier verses.

There's zero indication, that Satan, will be purified, and then once again become a good and righteous angel.
