To know for certain, one simply should look at the original word greek word, used in the scripture, aionios.

Then look at a non-biased site, for the Greek definition.

Here's the definitions I came across:

aionios - ageless, eternal, timeless, unending

It doesn't state or indicate an 'indeterminate' length.

Well, let's for example look at 'eternal punishment'.

The original Greek word, is not 'aion'. It's 'aionios'.
