I'm not "against" playing, people can do what they like! But i gave up playing the Lottery years ago when I realized that the games were being manipulated so that they paid off less and less frequently (I usually played "scratch-offs" with a few "Powerball" tickets here and there). Nowadays I couldn't play if I wanted to because of finances, so I'm glad I weaned myself previously.

That being said, I HOPE that some worthy GLPer wins it, and pays for a free year for everyone here! I'd love to hear that in one of those interviews where the people always seem to say "I'm gonna buy me a house, and my Mom a house, and get a new car, and take my family on vacation." Wouldn't it be GREAT to hear "I'm going to sponsor everyone at GLP for a year's membership!!"??
"I have come to the conclusion that all news should be treated like 9/11, assume it is a psyop with actors participating in a staged event complete with props, until proven otherwise, in which case assume whatever is being recorded, reported, televised, is distortions/lying by omission/outright lies, until proven otherwise." - Anonymous, 4-13-12

Imagine the state of texas covered 1 foot deep in quarters.

One of the quarters is painted green.

you can go anywhere you want in the entire state and pick up a quarter. If you find the green one, you win!

Only one catch...it costs you a buck everytime you pick one up.

Yea...I won't be playing that game.

BUT...if I did:

5 8 12 34 45 and poweball 6

It's a behavior issue...the people that play the lottery generally don't pay cash for cars or houses, they don't have a retirement plan, other than playing the lottery...in other words they are poor because they make poor decisions like playing the lottery.

two dollars is a lot of ramen and mac&chz...foe some people! Not being rude either...just saying...I only play when it gets big....this younger guy was in line behind me at the gas station a few months back and I could hear him mumbling about " must be nice to have money to blow"...mind you my mother and I each bought one quickpick each.....when I turned around he had a 18 rack of natty ice in his hand.....I laughed and said well " I woon't feel like shit in the morning and hell may even be a millionaire......to each there own!

Ill tell ya what. Ill just leave two bucks in my tree stand when I'm done today, and I will have the exact same results as if I had bought two tickets.

My wallet will be two dollars lighter...

Yup, trade in your paid for old car for a few bucks off a new one that puts you in debt...then they crush the good older car so it fucks the used car market, my oldest son and I looked for a good used car for him for nearly two years because of cash for clunkers...

Horseshit.

Those of us who do the math -- who understand that lotteries are nothing but a Tax on Stupidity! -- we are the ones with solid assets and zero debts...

... because we do not spend impulsively, we save, we invest, we manage our money.

That said, I do not give a damn if other people play the lottery. It gives them amusement.

Me? I can buy a pound of beans with that two dollars.

Do that a few times, make a habit of it, make a lifestyle of it... and you can become quite, quite financially secure.

The only "budget" I am on is to ask myself if any given expenditure is wise or prudent.
