I have NEVER bought a Power Ball ticket before. But, they had a raffle at work, and I was the one name drawn - won $50.00. I know that's not a lot but I seriously NEVER win anything.

So, I took the $50, bought one Power Ball ticket and a couple scratch off tickets - haven't scratched them yet. The rest I'll add to our savings (every little big helps). I figure if I was lucky enough to win something (when I seriously never have before), that maybe it was a good sign, haha.

You got the right idea, but they don't sell powerball tickets 24hrs a day. It is different in every state, and some retail stores close early.

Bought 3 tickets the other day, buying two more today, and then a few other types, because nobody is playing the Mega Millions with the powerball this high!

On top of that, they have lottery tickets for sale in nearly every convenient store and gas station in the United Station right at 'point of sale'.

Look folks, as a semi-frequent lottery player, I am well aware of the odds and how, over the course of my lifetime, the chances of me winning are incredibly slim. However, I also understand that I will never be wealthy due to my chosen line of work (which I am happy with), and the money that I outlay over the years would never equate to a retirement 'nest-egg' anyway. Where else in society can you get exposure to the possibility of financial freedom? Oh, and don't mention I should work harder and save...I bust my ass everyday, and in the economic conditions we are in now, there is no investment that promises any significant return. I view the few dollars I spend as extremely high risk investments, with the expectation of losing the principal. At the same time, lotteries exist because people win, and you might take a moment to consider how many millionaires the lottery has produced...dozens in my state alone last year.
