Arbitrarily creating the state of Israel out of former Palestine makes about as much sense as say, the UN declaring that California is now a sovereign state under Mexican rule based on the fact there are a large number of Mexican nationals (legal or illegal) that currently reside there.

There is no possibility of veto at the general assembly, only at the security council.

If not counting the superpowers USA and Russia, it remains the other nuclear powers and one of them is France. I think it has 2 times more nukes than UK.
