Re: I live my entire life in a constant state of depression
Depression is caused by negative self talk. If you are blaming yourself for everything and regret everything, it is no wonder you are depressed!

I'm 39 and had been severely clinically depressed since I was a teenager. This changed for me a few years ago when I stopped the negative self talk. It took a while to get use to talking positively to myself, and a lot of practice, but it really does work!

You must learn how to forgive YOURSELF and then forgive others who have caused you harm or injustice. I read about a technique that I use that helps a lot. Anytime you have a negative thought, don't react emotionally to it. Don't relive the pain. Release it. Let it go. Just observe the thought and sent it on its way. Imagine the negative thought or idea on a puffy cloud and send it on up in the sky out of sight/out of mind. Or sometimes I image the idea in a heart shaped helium balloon and let it go.

Replace the negative thoughts with positive. This takes practice and don't be too hard on yourself while you are practicing. That's why it's called practice - you won't master it at first. :) Replace the I hate yous with I am a good person. Learn to tell yourself that you love you. Replace your regrets with the acknowledgement that you learned a lesson and you are thankful for the experience because you are sure you won't repeat it again.

Stop the blaming and STOP LIVING IN THE PAST. Be kind to yourself, smile at yourself in the mirror, and move forward.

I know you can do it because I believe in you.

B6 deficiency is linked to depression. Go buy a bottle and you'll be feeling a bit better in a week.

Also, depressed people should not be reading GLP. ;)

I think you are a good person and am sending you love.

Re: I live my entire life in a constant state of depression
not trying to be cynical or unkind, but it comforts me to see so many in the same boat..

I'm up the same wall and dealing with all these same thoughts, looking for a way out, literally

I've even prepped my goodbyes, and have an exit plan all ready to deploy at will

I can attest that god is indeed not there so don't just rely on that...coz the last minute miracles that save you only appear in movies...real life is not Hollywood,...yes if you indeed try to kill yourself, chances are you will die, unless you're a total fuckup or you subconscious don't wanna die

does it matter to show people you're strong enough to live through this? who do u think cares? why do u think it matters? I'd like the free will to be able to eject myself from this stupid existence ...real convenient how god dictates the rules of that gift of free will

Re: I live my entire life in a constant state of depression
vitamins and minerals + amino acids helped me. life long sadness changed overnight when i supplemented naturally in high doses.

also. when you wake up in the morning find one thing to be thankful for and focus on it.
fake it till you make it.
retrain your thoughts.
sit outside and meditate thinking only positive thoughts like- my life is beautiful, everything is wonderful, i am so happy......
you will not believe what you are thinking but you will be creating new groove patterns/ tunnels for these though to naturally flow... basically you are in habitual negative thought / stuck in a rut. this is a way out.

You are suffering from the typical western disease of alienation from self and from others.

It's not that difficult to solve, but it will take time and effort:

1) Yoga (and other exercise, but Yoga first and foremost)
2) Meditation (if Yoga isn't enough)
3) XTC - yes, it works and has been found to create profound and long-lasting effects. Don't overuse it though. 1 - 2x per month max.
4) Give and get hugs to/from your kids and loved ones a lot.
5) Take B-complex vitamins.
6) Take Coconut oil (can mix with organic honey if you prefer)- nourishes brain cells and helps build myelin.
7) Vitamin D3 supplement approx. 3,000 to 5,000 IU per day.
8) Take a long trip (e.g., 4 weeks plus) to somewhere that is completely outside of your experience - like to a small town or village in a third world country - and volunteer there to build a school, or medical clinic, help out in an orphanage, or to dig a well.
9) Turn off, or better yet, throw out your TV. Buy a stack of books and start reading at least one or two hours a day. Stay away from Sylvia Plath and other depressing subjects, authors/books.
10) Get a good half hour or one hour deep massage 2x - 4x per month.
11) Don't forget the Yoga.

Best.

Go to your county mental health department and schedule an appointment with a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). They can actually help you feel better.

Re: I live my entire life in a constant state of depression
SSRI antidepressants are poison, so are antipsychotics, they shrink the frontal lobes

Other drugs alleviate depression, opioids amphetamines psychedelics etc but only with psychedelics does the benefit remain.

Those people that say god talks to them in dreams are mad. Divine entities do not deliver information in dreams, and if they do, it inevitably is expressed under layers of post-event cognition/interpretation.

You are depressed because you have a powerful brain. You will find "god" when you understand what you know to be right. "God" feels like a powerful vibratory energy in the spine and crown of the head.

And remember, you are very good at pointing out whats wrong in the world. So when you encounter righteousness in thought or the world around you, you will have no choice but to understand. That is "gods" language, that there is a better way.

Well! I think you are looking at things the wrong way.
Have you ever wondered why there are so many depressed people. And only a hand full of people that for some reason seem to have their ducks in a row, well this is not true.
We are all the same and the condition you have is just the way you are.

Here is a thing you should try and use. When you think to yourself Wow im depressed (Pick a safe word) A word that you can use to change you mind and lead you away from thinking your something your not. (Even if A Doctor Says you Are) And Don't take Meds.

A safe word is a positive word, And Dont tell anyone your word Keep this safe.

If Any of this has helped let me know.

I have been usesing this for 20+ years and it works. Works for everything.

a few things you can do that might help:

start observing your thought life. for every negative thought, recognize it and force yourself to turn it into a positive one. difficult, i know, but it can be done. your "self talk" is a vital piece to your mental environment.

for example, in your post you say that tomorrow is never better. FALSE. the bulk of depressive problems stems from negative thinking habits.

tomorrow IS going to be better. for one thing, you have survived everything in your life up to this point. good job. life aint easy and it's not for sissies.

be as social as you can. no more isolation. even if you don't feel like it or if it is awkward for you. do it anyway.

laugh more. make it happen. belly laughter is the best.

realize the areas for which you have control and the areas for which you are powerless. be okay with both.

exercise and do nice things to pamper yourself.

cure and help is not going to run toward you. you have to chase it down. i know, its hard to come up with inner strength in the midst of depression. do it anyway.

just do it. if you want to feel better, this is the only way. get up on your feet and make the changes that will help you.

another thing you can do is to not place too much importance on what you are feeling. place more importance on what you know and less on what you feel.

don't let your feelings govern everything you do.
feelings to not represent reality.

in spite of whatever you are feeling, the world is still turning and EVERYTHING is okay.

Now for the Don'ts:

1) Don't eat crap food; minimize added sugar and refined wheat/flour products.
2) Don't drink artificial sodas or anything with artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup (stevia and organic honey are fine, modest amount of coffee is okay, though green tea is far better).
3) Don't use any tobacco products.
4) Don't drink alcohol (one glass of wine every couple weeks may be ok, but most won't stop at that so best to eliminate it entirely).
5) Don't gorge yourself on food, though do eat regularly and eliminate as much red meat, GMO's, and farmed fish as possible. Lose weight if you're overweight.
6) Don't stay cooped up in your house all day.
7) Don't use any other drugs except for very occasional MJ and the aforementioned XTC 1 to 2 times per month.
8) Don't associate with negative people.
9) Don't watch TV and most commercial movies.
10) Don't feel sorry for yourself or blame others for your state of mind.
11) Don't join any cults - which includes almost all organized religions as you'll wind up more fu'd than you are now - Buddhism and Quakers are okay if you need the social aspects and a more structured/supportive environment.
12) And Don't forget the Yoga!

Best.

Great advice in this thread. I got nothing to say besides happiness comes from within. You gotta search the depths of your heart and understand that your actions and happiness are reflections of your thoughts. The more you discover 'hidden' things within yourself that have been dug deep because of pain, suffering, or regret, God will make a lot of sense. Just don't turn to religion...turn to your heart. We all have different life paths laid down by God--don't let anymore tell you Who God is or how God is. Only you can find out....

I bet not one was checked for Lyme Disease. The public doesn't understand that this is a worldwide problem and these are one of the symptoms along with 100 others. Anger is to top one..Once treated for a year ALL THE SYMPTOMS will be GONE.

Re: I live my entire life in a constant state of depression
Just put my son on a regimen of B100 vitamins supplements and zinc(25 mg) daily. It's helping, but he does still get a bit b-polar. He gets so negative about everything (or very happy), and I try to be there for him, but I did have to set him straight recently that I am tired of hearing just negative.

He called me a week later and said, he just "decided" to not be negative and try harder. He seemed happy. I know this will cycle for him, but he does understand that it takes work to be happy for him and he is at least willing to try things to help himself.

I think you need to try vitamins (b100's are great)Vit c, zinc and you need to forgive yourself for your personality and realize lots of people have issues and just "decide" to think in better ways about yourself. It's hard at first, but it gets easier. Just give yourself a break, I'm sure you are no better or worse a person than most!

You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy."
But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?
