I view coincidences in such a way. Every day, millions of possible coincedences can occur. It would be improbable that 1 didn't. If it's something that gets into the fore front of your mind, you'll draw conclusions on it that may well be false, as our brains naturally see patterns and give meaning to them.
In a test Derren Brown done. People were left in a room and had to score 100 points to win the prize money. They weren't told how the points were scored. The subjects, including actor David Tenant perfomed many random ideas. Every so often a point was scored. They kept repeating, or varying a method hoping for more points. At the end, they were asked whether they had figured it out. One said they did, although it kept changing. David Tenant was smarter and said that they hadn't. They got 100 points. It was scored by fish in a tank crossing a line in the middle. It really shown how we make connections to patterns. Just like how you train a dog or any animal.
We do the same thing in faiths all around the world, and believe this to be proof that prayers are answered.
