| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1189758 11/28/2012 07:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If they would ask me advice, this is what I would do. Build some mobile sets consisting of: a standard 100 watt IR industrial CO2 laser switchable optics widebeam/narrowbeam two webcams aligned with this optics, one wide-field and one with at least 20 times optical zoom. Both webcams fitted with IR image intensifiers between the cam and the optics. How to use this system? Look at the the screen of the widefield webcam in the direction of the sound of the drone. Now switch on the the laser with use of the widebeam optics. You now see the drone, focus this in the middle of field of view. Switch to the other webcam and zoom in. Keep the drone in he middle of field of view Now switch to the narrowbeam optics for the laser. Result?? Drone blind. Now move the system to another location. Total costs for the parts of this system around 2000 $ Dollar, all available on Ebay. Should work better with separated systems and even some disposable extra wide beam lasers, to confuse the enemy. ![]() |

Quoting: DoorBert Lockheed Martin developed the Area Defense Anti-Munitions (ADAM) system to provide a defense against short-range threats, such as rockets and unmanned aerial systems. Designed for short-range defense of high-value areas including forward operating bases, the ADAM system’s 10-kilowatt fiber laser is engineered to destroy targets up to 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) away. IMHO Gaza was a test of a secret laser anti-missile system. The video has been removed from YouTube but I did link it in my Pillar of Defense thread. |

| DoorBert (OP) User ID: 857877 11/28/2012 03:38 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For Israel, Pillar of Defense was not about killing terrorist masterminds like Ahmed Jabari or blowing up Hamas headquarters. Those were ancillary targets. This round of hostilities was actually a hunting expedition for Fajr-5s. .... The Israelis claim to have destroyed most if not all of the Fajr-5s – about 100, give or take – in the first few days of fighting. Only then, after Israel had destroyed the bulk of the rockets, did Secretary of State Hillary Clinton make any serious effort to pressure Egyptian President Mohammed Morsy into brokering a ceasefire. In other words, Operation Pillar of Defense bears unmistakable signs of close coordination between Netanyahu and Obama. And while the White House may not admit it in public, Netanyahu appears to have done everything in his power to ensure that Israeli military operations did not get in the way of Obama’s bid for reelection. If anything, Netanyahu may have put off striking the Fajr-5s until well after the election, even if it put his own population at risk. [link to globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com] |
