As much as I love that cop, I can't help but feel a little bit put out that we the people feel like decorating him as a hero for simply upholding the law - doing his job. That says a lot about the state of police these days.

while it is wonderful to see an officer doing his duty by the constitution, what exactly is being opted out of? the machine? getting frisked? being wanded for koolade?

all of it stinks, none of it helps. except for the benefit of the tsa, who steal and feel people in places which should be left private.

ok, i know about the illegal pets racket and the drugs. does even all the elaborate security prevent them from trying, over and over again? no, because it's not secure security. i know i'm not the only one who believes that TSA is as secure as they wanna be. as they wanna be.

i want to opt for proving who i am, letting them see that local and state police have nothing on me and then getting a pass to bypass those people. well before i ever get on an aircraft, like getting a passport. won't happen i'm sure, but i can hope.

opt out, great. what are the other choices? all of them stink. my kids are saving money so i can drive. they want me there safely and it's cheaper than bail.

I don't live in the USA, but I understand the whole point of the USA's origins was freedoms and rights, which weren't available anywhere else.
