I mean cool he helped him do yoga..... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26817230 let me tell ya something... i have muscular dystrophy. the kind that affects legs, hips, shoulders and abs. it's no picnic. lots of opportunity to give up and stop trying. doing yoga for some of us is a major challenge. and doing things when it seems impossible, when you keep falling and failing... defeating to say in the least. i needed this video today. when he broke into that full-on run at the end of the vid, i burst into sobs and my heart burst with joy. i haven't been able to run in 5 years. i will be running by this time next year. guaranteed. The first time I saw this was earlier this year or late last year. I cried. I only mentioned the disability benefits thing because that's the frame of mind i've been in lately after the election. it's a valid question. work on the delivery... lol |

That used to really be me as well, disabled veteran (medical discharge april 2002), couldn't walk, I got up to around 450 lbs I think anyway and now down to 245. It really is amazing what yoga and martial arts can do for the body. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28621940 yep. before i got sick, i was a gym rat. not the body builder type, but tons of cardio, resistance training, yoga. after i started getting sick, the things i normally did became impossible. if a muscle group is not there, you simply cannot perform the action. i had to learn to do things different. i got really pissed at first, then depressed. i'm still pissed, but i have accepted the fact that i have to do things differently. started doing yoga again a few years ago. at first i looked like the guy in the vid. kept falling, couldn't do very many poses. now, you have to understand, i was an advanced yoga practitioner prior. i had to start completely over and utilize alternative muscle groups to overcompensate for the ones that have atrophied. i did this in the privacy of my own home because there was no way i was going to a class and looking like a chump. anyway... it's not easy, on the body or the mental part. |

I must ask does anyone know the song and artist? I find the song just as inspiring as the video. And I think I detect a touch of humanity in Brief's responses in this thread. There may be hope for you yet friend. All in good fun of course. |

Quoting: pink cat i wish they had not focused so much on how much weight he lost but instead, how much strength he gained. very cool story! Yeah emphasis should have been more about the addition of a good quality then the removal of bad ones but on the bright side by using weight as an example the video should connect to more people. And that would be a VERY good thing. Jack of all trades master of none "shall not be infringed." Really?really? User ID: 28077950 Canada 12/01/2012 04:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just scrolled through all the comments again and I was surprised at all the cynical nasty responses from the Brits. What happened to the Dunkirk spirit? I have always been impressed by the kindness and humanity of GB people. Don't say it's been beaten out of you. Really?really? |

Quoting: Salt i dare you not to cry while watching this. [link to www.downvids.net] Fibromyalgia (chronic constant pain) has made me one hard bitch, dealing with pain is so soul sucking that you feel like nothing could possibly phase you. I looked at the video thinking no way this is going to make me cry. Well it did...ALOT I'm young but I walk with a cane...and people rudely ask about it I hardly eat anything but somehow am 90 pounds overweight. It's impossible to exercise when exercise makes your pain increase. I'm trapped in my house bcause I no longer have the strength to drive my stick shift mustang that I bought when I was healthy. If I do leave the house I have to take my wheelchair, so I can have a place to sit because walking is painful and exhausting. My wheelchair is manual, so I lack the strength to push it and sometimes I end up just sitting on the sidewalk somewhere looking pathetic. So fat, in pain, and drugged out on painkillers is no life. No I dont WANT a handicap spot...I'd rather walk No I dont WANT disability...I had a great career I had workd hard for No I dont WANT drugs...even though the pushers oops doctors give me tons of the good stuff No I dont WANT pity...you can shove that pity I WANT a normal life No amount of condescending "encouragement" from friends and family could lead me to believe in myself again. I even had someone call me lazy because I am overweight....wth I can't walk. and I don't wish it on anyone. I had alot of anger, disappointment that my life was not what I had imagined it to be, resentment...regret....depression...suicidal thoughts...you name it. But this man and his story really touched my heart...no my soul. I've been crying for ten minutes straight...thank you OP...I needed this...he is a million more times inspirational that any Jared or BiggestLoser...he was where I am...and if he could find his way home...then so could I |

A certain prescription made me gain weight, I tried very hard to stay slim. I was 105lbs when I got sick. Some of them have to be taken with food too, and you have to take meds several times a day. Don't do it and your noncompliant. |
