Anyone have memories that you can't tell really happend ?

Strange because my sisters both have this. They each have memories that I know for a fact didnt happen because I was there.

Although I should add there memories are not of traumatic incidents just stupid crap. As far as traumatic incidents I question the validity of repressed memories all together.

what do you actually know about it, or how did you asked your sister about it?

Mine are kind of sick ... Shameful to even text out on this phone. I want to confront the people involved but what if its just a false memory ... Ahhh fuck it. Who knows, shit just has me frustrated. Night after night,awoken by the same few flashbacks. Maybe I should see a shrink or something ...

theres some really interesting psychology stuff on left and right brain thinking,literally two "people"in every brain.freaky stuff.

I would say seek counseling if they are to the point where the flashbacks are occurring seriously its for your own good.

Well the one is me locked in this closet at about 5 years old (neighbors closet, the man locked me in there in the pitch dark) I was terrified then I heard my sister screaming for help... Felt like 20 or so minutes went by and I'm let out to see her sitting on this bed crying with a torn shirt. I was too young to understand what had happend ... About a year ago while we were both drinking I had asked her about that and she did confirm me being locked up as a prank but denied the rape or ripped shirt.

Few other flashbacks still come back though

Just because a family member denies it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Denial is a powerful defense mechanism.

She may have disassociated or blocked what happened to her and only remember you being locked in the closet or be too ashamed to admit what happened.

I doubt you imagined her ripped shirt and crying. But pressing her on it may do more harm than good.

Me too - I have disturbing memories that flash like that at me also. I read in a book once that if you came home to find all your stuff thrown around - you would assume someone had been there messing with everything. These memories are much the same. Do not obsess over whether it's real or not - but you do have to clean up the mess! Sending you this in kindness from a fellow traveler.
