The TWO sides? Stop fighting past wars... the fact is we're in a newworld and even back in world war two they were fighting world war one style... and we're in this mentality that it'll be two sides. Fact is that it will likely be a multi national cooperation for three or more sides. Superpowers on two sides while insurgents and "lower class" countries will gather their own defenses to sustain if possible. It will truly be a world at war...

Syria is losing to the FSA so they unleash chemical weapons at Israel through Hezbollah.

Israel nukes Damascus.

Iran launches missiles at Saudi oil fields and Israel and attempts to block the straits of Hormuz. Hamas attacks Israel with rockets.

The US engages with Iran in the Gulf. They lose an aircraft carrier to a Sunburn missile. The US invades Iran's oil producing territories.

An EMP explodes over the US, taking out the power grid and electronics.

Russia comes to Iran's aid with conventional weapons.

China launches conventional war against Taiwan and US pacific forces.

North Korea attacks South Korea, US and Japan with conventional and unconventional forces.

The US sues for peace.

the Europeans should be the ones to operate the helter skelter this time, because the ride is not as fun as in our younger days, then we can be the ones to get you all back on your feet when you hit the bottom hahahahah

I believe that world war three happened almost directly after world war two. Mainly fought in south-asia, ie korea, viet-nam , laos etc. This is essentially the cold-war as fought by proxy. This turned into world war four as the soviet union began to dissolve, beginning with Stalin's death, and the first Sudanese civil war, world war four culminated in the second Congolese war(afrikas world war two), although fighting continues to this day in that region.

The next world war involves the same people for the same reasons. World wars are not fought to kill people, on the contrary they are fought for the people, IE to capture and use the people (populations) as production demographics.

People ARE the power and the energy, and the governments know this better then anyone else. Hearts and minds, literally.

i get what you are saying. the phoenix rising from the ashes, making an new nest out of the old. the last time was for industrialization which has done its job, but this has caused an explosion in populations which means the nest wont last as long as in the past. so the if there is a next war its going to be fought to kill people
