Look up Strong's Concordance Hebrew word 120(aw-dawm): ruddy derived from Strong's Concordance Hebrew word 119(aw-dam): to show blood in the face; i.e. flush or turn rosy; red; ruddy

So if the word is in Hebrew from the original manuscripts no matter what language you translate it in, the word will always be Adam and it is derived from the phonetic pronunciation. He was named as such because of his appearance. And all offspring were known as the sons of Adam because of their appearance. Adam is also translated "man", the first man of that bloodline.

The other word used in biblical scripture for "man" is "ish" which refers to the other men when it is usually not directly referring to the adamic bloodline.
