It's been 6 months and 2 weeks without having a job. I got an offer about a month ago, but it was an overnight position making $25k less than my former job. Now, with bills piling up, I'm kinda thinking I should have taken it anyway. I cashed out my 401k when it happened and that will probably last me till the end of January. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27771865 I'm about $17k in debt from student loans and medical bills, although it only takes $400 a month to keep those creditors happy. I've been on two different 3rd interviews with different companies within the last couple weeks, and I'm waiting for them to make a decision. I still spent 3-4 hours a day looking online, and I'm starting to get really depressed. I would appreciate if you guys could send some prayer my way. Thanks. I know the feeling. At least you got interviews. I have been out of work for months..and not even a single interview. But then..if I was meant to have a Job..I WOULD have had one. I have learnt how to live by faith..and it works. |

Prayer can never hurt but it will be up to you to get a job, not God. Ayatollah Khomeini: “Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled and incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of [other] countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world. But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world…. Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers]? Islam says: Kill them [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]. Does this mean sitting back until [non-Muslims] overcome us? Islam says: Kill in the service of Allah those who may want to kill you! Does this mean that we should surrender to the enemy? Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to Paradise, which can be opened only for Holy Warriors! There are hundreds of other [Koranic] verses and Hadiths [sayings of the Prophet] urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.” |

This will be hard for people who have no guarantee on the future. Who are living basically day by day on what they have earned or have in the past and have accumulated. People with something to rely on worry less I guess, though it seems that people with a LOT of stuff actually worry more about losing the stuff they have <- which is kinda stupid. Have a thankful heart. Don't get depressed. When you let yourself go into depression it's a hole and its hard to dig yourself out once you fall in it and soon you'll realize there are no handholds in the hole you fell in and you won't be able to make it out! If you remain thankful and positive even with the little you have, you will be hopeful and look at life with appreciation and with all that you have with gratitude. If you live this way, even if you have so little, you will have joy in your heart and happiness. But even THAT is fleeting and short. The only way to have a guarantee in life is to believe in God and rely on Him. If you trust and put your Faith in Him, you have someone you can rely on during your hard times, who you know He will keep you from hardship to the point where you can't handle it. God also helps you to grow during the times of hardship to become a better person and more wise. It's better to lean and trust in God and His Son, Jesus Christ than to go it alone. With Jesus you have an absolute guarantee that HE will be there to help you always in times of both many and little or nothing at all. In fact HE is the one that sustains you and eventually you realize you really don't need anything at all but Him. Because HE will always take care of you, as you follow Him in all things. In Jesus Christ. |

Rising Son User ID: 28397514 Japan 11/28/2012 05:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP - I will pray for you, that you may find a good job. I encourage you to pray as well (I'm sure you're doing this anyway) but try not to tell God what you need - ask Him to show you or help you better understand what His will is for you. When we stop trying to do things our way and let God show us the way, you would be surprised how much easier your life becomes. Also try to remember that God often works through people, and it is sometimes difficult to realize this until after the fact. Try to keep an open mind to new opportunities that may come your way, no matter how subtle or minute. Sometimes all we need to do is take a leap of faith, by surrendering ourselves and our will to God. "Be still, and know that I am God." I don't seem to have much of a problem getting the interviews, I just don't seem to make it past the 2nd interview with most places. If my count is right, I've interviewed with 9 companies and probably have submitted my resume to 75-100 :/ It's more disheartening than anything, I didn't think it would take this long. If I get a job at this hedge fund I've been waiting on, I'll be making what I made at my former employer, but with better benefits. If it's the other company, it'll be at least $15k less, but that's okay. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28659511 3rd interviews? sounds like you have skills and qualifications, why work for someone else? can't you start up on your own? I didn't really make a killing. 65k at the former job, and I got an offer for 40. That's what I was making when I graduated college 6 years ago. I tried starting my own gig for the first couple months, but I don't really think that's for me, at this point in my life anyway. I only made ~$600 in those months while spending much much more. Plus, I miss going into a stable, corporate environment. And I think my cat wants more alone time, she's never been use to seeing me all day. |

I kept on posting those resumes, making calls, and asking people around me to keep an ear out for me. Im Ex-Army, Licensed electrician, multiple IT certs, and am fluent in German, Italian and Spanish. And it still took awhile! I applied to the damn Federal Gov. I was so desperate! My savings was toast! And with a family, house, cars, and every other freaking bill, it was hard! But opportunity came knocking LOUD! KEEP GOING! You WILL get what you need. God bless you OP! A pretty weird way to describe '2nd shift'. Not to get too personal, but sleep has been an issue for me, when I've been sleep deprived in the past I've slipped into mania over several months- which is the reason I lost my last job and have medical bills :/ |

When was the last time an amputated limb regrew as a result of prayer? Or how about that time we prayed that rocket ship all the way to the moon?...Oh, yeah, that was science that did that...never mind. You need to learn to adapt to the new economy. Take less income. Adjust your lifestyle to suit your income and don't try and live above your means. You say you made 65,000 at your last job? I have no sympathy for you. I've been unemployed since 2007 and I'd be happy if somebody gave me a minimum wage job. I have college too, and I've submitted over 2,500 applications and resumes in the last 3 years. How many jobs have you actually applied for? Shut the fuck up with your "I won't take 40,000 a year because that's what I made out of college 6 years ago." Shut the fuck up, quit relying on a nonexistent god to solve YOUR problems (which are largely caused BY you) for you. |

I kind of have to agree with you (even with the lack of tact in your post)- If you turned down 40K, good fucking luck (hope your God provides BETTER since you kind of told him to "fuck off" by not taking what many would literally kill for) My wife has college as well and cannot even find a job waiting tables (looking hard for the last few months) and even our local Walmart isn't hiring right now. Fortunatley I make enough for the bills, but barely (and nothing extra including "luxury" items like a Can of Soda *rolls eyes* havnt had a beer in a couple months-) So if your "god" gave you the opportunity to make a HELL of a lot of money TO START and you decided it wasnt good enough- Time to meet the God of "Fuck You Sideways" as you will probably soon be lucky to be flipping burgers. -Shits bad out there- Really, really, bad. The "turnaround" they talk about is non existent with a few minimum wage jobs created for a plethora of good jobs lost. -But your too good for that. =/ |

You could contact Money Management International- they are the largest non profit in the US for debt reduction. Its free to use them, by en-large.....I have seen motgages CUT $50000 and interest rates on homes reduced by the lenders to 1.9%. Unsecured debt from banks are making even MORE incredable deals than secured. It is amazing and hardly anybody even knows about this service. "MMI" is the way to go- its a non profit, and they can get the bill collectors to do things we could never do on our own. Get out of debt while you have a compelling case to make with the creditors. Wait and they wont give you anywhere good of a deal later when your earning are better, they deal even if you are way behind and late with the payments--let MMI do the deal for you....
